Altima owner robs bank in East Valley and Crashes into white Supra
PHOENIX (KPHO / AP) ― A bank robbery suspect being chased by officers through several Phoenix-area suburbs crashed into an oncoming car, killing at least two people.
The suspect robbed a Bank of America branch at gunpoint early Wednesday afternoon, then was chased through several cities east of Phoenix by numerous police officers, said Sgt. Mike Horn of the Tempe Police Department. Speeds at one point reached 100 mph, police said. Officers tried using stop sticks to get the driver to stop but he swerved right around them and kept going. The suspect's vehicle slammed head-on into an oncoming car on a two-lane highway. Both drivers were killed. After the collision, dozens of officers were out of the patrol cars securing the scene and trying to see if they could help the victims. But it was too late. The FBI said the suspect was wanted in connection with four Phoenix -area bank robberies http://cbs5.com/crime/phoenix.fatal.chase.2.603487.html |

Wow, it actually looks like he was trying to hit the other car? Very sad.
|
Yeah I thought so too.... probably his way off "not getting caught alive".
I think if I were the supra driver, I'd been inclined to have ditched it when I saw the other car coming across the lane... ... I actually avoided an accident like that a 3am one morning and a fool was driving on my side of the road going, in my lane, as it was only a two lane road, the wrong way... and never figured it out.... That's tradgic.... terrible way to die... and it looked like either his top flew off, or he was cruising with his top off... |

He had to have been completely mauled for police not to even bother trying to get into or around the car. They had to know instantly he was dead. Surely they wouldn't just ignore him. As far as him taking that persons life, I agree with the reporter at the end. That could have been your mom driving along minding her business when this a-hole decided to pull this. Worse is that the supra locked the brakes up and slid when he seen him coming so their last moments were terror. |
Sadly I think they were more concerned with the suspect just to see if he's alive and able to pose a threat to everyone around. It's sad people have to do stupid stuff like this. Sickening.

Wow thats a dam shame.
RIP to the Supra driver. -Smitty |
Yea I read about this on SupraForums, very sad situation. I'm not sure if the mkiv owner was a member on Supraforums or not.

Another angle http://www.abc15.com/mediacenter/loc...xv.dayport.com http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/4199/supraeb7.jpg The cops looked like they leaned into the Supra and just pulled back instantly. And the Supra looked like he was doing the right thing and pulling over to AVOID a collision. But damn at those speeds there doesn't seem like there was ANYTHING he could do. |
