Cobra debuts the US's first GPS-equipped radar detector

Cobra, never a company to let you down when you need that special kind of radar that they provide (the ticket avoiding kind), has introduced the US's first GPS-locator equipped radar detector, the XRS R9G -- just like they said they would. What does a radar detector need GPS for? Well, this one holds a database of speed and red-light cameras, warning you when you're approaching so you can ease off the gas pedal, save a few lives, and not get yourself a nasty, nasty ticket. "Across the country, the number of speed and red light cameras is growing exponentially," says Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Cobra, adding, "Now drivers can stay alert no matter where they travel." The company plans to further augment the detector's capabilities with alerts for "black spots" (high accident zones), as well as school and construction alerts. The XRS R9G is available now, retailing for $449.95.

About time.......

I been waiting for something like this for a while.
Not only will it make GPS systems price drop but also regular Radar detectors as well.

If they really integrate this with nav systems there's a lot of possibilities since the nav system knows how fast you're going! It could announce "slow the ---- down! speed camera ahead!" :D

Any GPS-enabled device, not just nav system, knows how fast you're going, including this radar detector. It's just they somehow did not include this feature. Personally I would find it annoying and simply not use it even if it's offered though.

I've also been waiting for something like this to come out. Since Valentine has the patent on the arrow's, I expected others to leap foward with a little map screen displaying where you are and where the radar threat is coming from.

The Valentine One is still the best radar/laser detector you can buy. Cobra makes some of the worst radar detectors on the market today.

In 3 years of membership, RaDaRkInG has managed a total of 15 posts - and every post claims that the V1 is the best. You'll see a similar pattern on all other forums he posts on using the same SN.

The V1 may very well be the best, but I don't agree with the sales tactic.

Werent they also caught trying to sabotage other radar detector tests as well? lol

This is just the first generation. When other companies get to this and tech gets better, like bit said, a nice voice says "HIT THE BRAKES BISH"!!!!

Actually Craig Peterson the guy who runs Radartest.com works for Bel and Escort so he bashes the Valentine One every chance he gets on his website. The Guys Of Lidar (GOL) are the only independent radar detector testers and they have shown the Valentine One to be the best year after year. Craig Peterson got caught trying to sabotage the GOL test because he knew the truth about his fake testing would be discovered. The stupid ass planted a radar gun on top of a mountain to throw off the testing and the GOL team used a Valentine One's arrows to find the box with his name on it with a radar gun inside.

The Valentine One is the best and people always try to knock it out of the #1 position and they always fail.
