Default Need advice and input on Acura TL...

'05 Acura TL with Nav (auto tranny, non-sport), 30k miles = $26k.

KBB Retail = $30k.
KBB Private = $28.5.

Give me your opinions. Thanks!

There are nice deals out there on the 07s right now. Friend just traded in his 06 TL without NAV and got $26K for it (I think he only had like 8K on the clock or less).

He was also told that non-nav TLs are hard to sell (the used car manager told him this when he found out how much they actually gave him -too much in his mind).

So in your deal, since the car has NAV, it seems like a "fair" price. Wish the miles were lower.....

For a two year old car, that's quite typical in SoCal...

Not a bad car for a daily driver.

Is this going to be the replacement for your IS350, or will this car be for your brother?

Ok, I just checked..
The 2007 TL without NAV has an invoice of $31,517. I think there is $2,500 back on the 07s right now - that brings it down to $29,107 - give the dealer $500 and you are at $29,607 for a brand new TL with zero miles.

WITH NAV you are talking $33,807 - so $31,307 after $2,500 rebate and $31,807 with $500 dealer profit.

To me, having a brand new car for approx $6K more is worth it. But that's me. Then again, if you don't need the Nav...

The tranny problems were mostly 1999 through 2003. According to Consumer reports, the problem seems to have been fixed by 2004.

Tranny problems or not, I reviewed a TL a couple of years ago, and while it was an OK car (I've seen lots worse), I was not as impressed as much with it as with either the larger RL or smaller TSX. The RL, in many ways, is superb.

Default UPDATE: My brother is finally "car educated"...

Thanks for everyone's input. I was helping my brother get ideas for a car, and his budget is either for a used luxury car, or a new econobox.

I took my brother to check out the Acura TL, and he did not like it.

Instead, after checking out different makes and models and choices (he is really opinionated about body styles and available options), he is going to choose between a Camry Hybrid or IS250 by the end of this week...
