Forbes Top 10 Off-Road Luxury SUV's
Has anybody tested the GL off road? From a purely design level standpoint it seems to be a cross between a luxury minivan and an SUV. Unibody platform, but that doesn't necessarily disqualify it from being off-road capable...
The H2 isn't bad at all off road - it just gets a bad reputation because it's not even remotely close to as capable as its H1 "cousin", which in reality it's not related to at all.
The H2 is a "fake hummer" which waters down the hummer name... as is the H3. That's why people get annoyed with it.
If you made the same vehicle and called it a Chevy something or another, it wouldn't get nearly the crap it does, but as it stands now, it's just a Tahoe with a modified chassis, suspension, upgraded motor, and drive system. A far cry from its military grade H1 stable mate.

Not so sure about the Cayenne. I haven't done any hardcore off roading myself, but from what I've seen a Cayenne is much more capable at off roading than an Escalade.
