I agree that Honda is behind in this hp war but the spec on the K-series 2.0L rated 225hp @ 8000rpm & 159 lbs-ft tq @ 6100rpm is no joke. We don't see many other 2.0 NA engines making 220+ hp out there. It's amazing that they can even squeeze that much hp from a little engine and still very reliable.

ITR B-Series 1.8L was rated @ 195hp @ 8000rpm & 130 lbs-ft tq @ 7500 rpm (old rating) and redline @ 8400rpm fuel cut off at 8500rpm. K-series engines are much superior comparing to the B-series engines, but combined with its unbelievable awesome neutral handling and the precise shifting gearbox, the ITR is still a benchmark for other fwd cars and even rwd cars to be compared to. It is still among the best handling front-drive cars in the world. The ITR are no longer produced but just like any other car icons that were dropped from the assembly line, its legend lives on. People who owned one would know what I am talking about. Those who have not experienced owning or driving one would probably say I am talking out of my A$$.

Eventhough it came with the 15", the BEST setup was 16" not 17" or 18". Like JZA80 said, 17" & 18" are probably required to clear the big brake.

Of course, another reason -- Marketing thinks customers want them.
Sad but true. Most people won't ever pass the limit of the regular brake let alone the big brake. The marketing people are in it for the $$$.

Not only that, IMHO it even matches and/or beats many RWD cars. The ITR is one heck of a car.

It does. The Civic Si does too, which is why I sold my IS, and bought... a Civic Si.

The March issue of Top Gear ranks the top hatches... They say the Stig
is impressed by the car, but that's just great it's not available here...
Not that I would ever buy one, but it would be good to have the
option.

1) Honda Civic Type R
2) VW Golf GTI
3) Ford Focus ST
4) VW Golf GTI Edition 3.0
5) Renaultsport Clio 197

They actually ranked 30 of them, but it's a pain in the @$$ to
navigate their website.

Look at the size of the brake. Is the car really that much heavier that requires such brakes to slow it down? What I am guessing is that customers want larger rims, but when you put larger rims on the car if the brake and the disc combo is small then it makes it looks weird. I just think it's more aesthetic/marketing driven than performance/engineer driven.

Those seats look quite inviting I must say

I still can't believe what Honda has done with their steering wheel theme. It's soo ugly compared to the previous versions.

Top Gear wasn't in love, EVO gave it 3 outta 5 stars. They thought it had a lot of room for improvement. CAR on the other hand loved it and it won the comparo there.
