Toyota future MR2 in the works?
I know the MR2 stopped production in '05.
Would be interesting to see if it comes back soon.
Would be interesting to see if they use an engine from their new WRC car. 2L 255 hp Flat-4 *drools* for sure could give a Porsche Boxster a run for its money.

Yeah, rumor was at the time when those fotos came out that they were working on a hybrid.
Just to note, the MR-S that competes in the Super GT GT300 class now runs a 3.5L V6 2GR in place of the 3SGTE. The Supra/SC430 in the GT500 class migrated from a 4.3L V8 to a ~4.6 V8 ..... sign of things to come?

I own a MR2 spyder. If ever they produce another generation of the mr2, I hope they stick with bare essentials, lightweight roadster. Its not meant to be fast but boy, this thing handles! Quick steering ratio is also a plus.
Here's my car custom fitted with a turbocharger:

That last weak bug eyed 3/10ths boxster wannabe MR was a huge dissapointment from the previous mini Ferrari looking model that had a 200hp turbo engine. I remember getting a ride in my friends MR2 turbo that had some upgrades and that thing was so fast and fun and looked very nice. We test drove the new MR2 spyder and just started laughing when we saw it in person and were like what did Toyota do. The engine only made like 138hp and it felt so weak when driving it. It handled well but so did the much better looking higher performing previous model. If they are doing another one they should forget about the cute chick car convertable and go the high performance mini Ferrari route. The turbo and supercharged models killed the Pontiac Fiero and built a name for themselves and Toyota totally ruined it with that last weak "cute" convertable model which is why few people bought it and they cancelled it.
