Scion's future strictly boxy

Scion's future strictly boxy

Scion will redesign its tC and xA vehicles to follow the popular xB's boxy design language, according to Automotive News. The xA will reportedly lose its wedge-like shape in favor of something boxier, and the tC will also become considerably more angular. The report suggests the 2010 tC will be derived directly from the Scion Fuse concept, which was unveiled earlier this year.

Well... there goes Scion's only normal looking car. Generation Y = ugly cars?

tC more angular, ok...

just not boxy!

Well, can't blame them. The xB is the best seller. It outsells the xA 2:1

That does suck for the tC. I definately would buy the current tC but I hate the style of the xB so anything more boxy I personally don't like. I guess to all those that are buying it (There are many) enjoy:p

Attached here is a picture that I took with my phone while I was at the Japanese bookstore a few days ago reading the newest Mag-X.

The new "Ist" will probably be sort of like a mini-Rav4, like a miniature SUV. Unless Scion decides to not use the new Ist as the replacement model for the xA, it'll probably not be boxy.

The tC is a GREAT-looking car in its current form. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a college-bound kid or as a daily driver with a long commute. I can't imagine how making it more angular and/or boxy can possibly be a good thing.

Tru 'dat!

But I think Scion is trying to make their cars stand out more promintently on the road.

The xA looks like a chopped Matrix, and the tC looks like a redesigned Celica (it was ready to be redesigned last year anyways until Toyota killed it). The xB defines Scion because it stands prominently on the road.

If Scion wants to make their brand distinctive looking like Hummers or Cadillacs, they better make sure that their designs are consumer friendly, not just "conceptual."

I think it's a good idea. Scion needs its own identity and family look. That's why Toyota created the Scion brand in the first place--that the gen-Y hate to be seen driving their old men's car brand. It'd better look as distinct and far apart from Toyota as possible.

because the article is written badly and does not explain anything... they are basing "boxy" on Scion Fuse concept, which looks great.

This is all based on Autoweek's future vehicle guide, which is full of bad information.
