so is the sc430 the worlds first 4 seater 2 pc retractable hardtop?

sometimes, marketing is deceiving. but then again, i won't deny that the backseat of the sc430 aren't something really that practical. not sure about c70 myself

About as exciting as watching grass grow. Top assembly is cool though I wonder how long the Ford engineering behind it will last. Volvos are still nice cars and for a hard top for under $39k, they can pretend to be SC430's. :D :D

The devil’s in the details as Tony pointed out. They can get away with that statement because of their three piece hardtop as apposed to the standard two piece.

Anyone ever sit in the back seat of an SC430??? Just because it has 4 headrests, doesnt make it a 4 seater. :egads:


I believe what Volvo was trying to get at is that the C70 can sit 4 REAL people (comfortably) and have the top up or down. You can tell what they are getting at with the picture of the 4 ADULT occupants in the back seat with the top up. I'd like to see that with the SC430. I dont think anyone here is man enough to stick their friends in the back seat of an SC430 and tell them we are going on a 4 hour car ride.

I did once. I almost dislocated my right hip, as I was spreadeagled on the back of the front passenger seat, which was pushed as far forward as possible. Hurt like hell everytime the driver hit the brakes...

I'm missing it...it looks like Volvo's is also a 2-piece system just like the Peugeot and SC430. :uh:

I would rather NOT have rear seats. Throws off the balance of the car with people back there. I would like to see some lockable compartments like my 968 Cab had-very nice and handy.
I am sure the Volvo will sell as most Volvo's do and perhaps bring in some other customers. Doubtful this will take away any SC430 sales and vice versa.

It's definately a 3 piece....Extra join mid roof, right above glass line.

When I seen people actually use the rear seats of the SC430, I just think to myself wow how did they fit
