Ascari KZ1 To Star in The Persuaders Remake

BANBURY, England — Aston Martin's new Bondmobile looks set to spark a whole new wave of carmaker product placement in Hollywood movies. The first off the blocks is U.K. supercar maker Ascari.

The company has struck a deal to place its carbon-fiber-bodied KZ1 supercar in the upcoming Hollywood feature film remake of tongue-in-cheek 1970s TV spy show The Persuaders. The original series starred Tony Curtis and Roger Moore, behind the wheels of a Ferrari 246GT Dino and an Aston Martin DBS, respectively.

In an interesting bit of synergy, the new Bond film revives the DBS name, and Roger Moore took over the role of Bond shortly after playing playboy agent Lord Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders.

The cast of this modern-day comedy crime flick has not yet been confirmed, but rumors suggest Ben Stiller or George Clooney might be earmarked to reprieve Curtis's Danny Wilde character, while Hugh Grant or Steve Coogan could be in line to play the Roger Moore role. Filming will start next summer.
