*drool* When I buy my next car in two years, this car, along with the IS500, will be at the top of the list.

I'm liking what I'm seeing in the new 3...
I appreciate the sarcastic (albeit unnecessary) reply, but I read somewhere that BMW will be putting the //M Badge on a sedan rather than a coupe for the e9x models.

I can guarantee you it takes less time to kill my VDIM than it takes you to find a damn radio station on your silly i-drive

Also, if you read a few posts prior to yours, 2007 ISs will have a VDIM/VSC defeat button just like your precious Bimmer

dont get all butthurt...unlike you i can appreciate many types of cars and makes. dont be so blinded by your loyalty that you cant see the good aspects of other cars. I had a lexus too and it's a different car for a different market.

I'm glad to see that they listened to the reviewers and are putting in the defeat button now work on getting the people a 6 speed manual and then Lexus can dominate the world...that is what you want isnt it? everyone to drive a Lexus? Personally i like a little variety...keeps all the car makers on their toes and not complacent

very nice jimmy, so, how fast is the car?

the fenders are very nice, with some nice wheels it's going to look sick. seems like they got some big rotors underneath as well

not sure about the rear still though

yup very true, maybe it's a trend? i can probably understand it on high end coupe (i mean real coupe) like the sc430 and the cls. but on cars like the 3 series (entry level).... i'd just keep rear bench seat

If you wanna interpret it that way, more power to ya, but that's not what I said.

This has been discussed ad-naseum; in terms of objective handling, the 2IS and 3 Series are close, the main limiting factor for the 2IS is VDIM, and the 2007 IS will have a VSC/VDIM defeat switch.
By 'objective handling' I guess you mean skidpad g ratings, slalom/track times, etc.?

But either way, would you say Lexus wants the 2IS to compete with the 3 series?

What most reviews and people complain about is handling FEEL, and that too should be improved with all of the IS's electronic nannies disabled.
Feel is more than just power being robbed by worried lawyers.

You're wrong, at least in the IS350's case. VDIM adjusts the steering ratio, and overall controls many electronic systems such as VSC, traction, and braking systems. When turned off, the car's feel *does* change.

Not *everyone* likes the "feel" of a BMW, myself included. I tend to prefer a feel that's in between say a typical Lexus and a typical BMW, and it looks like Lexus is getting sportier and heading in that direction of offering the exact feel that I want.

Yes, by objective handling, I mean skidpad ratings, track times, braking times, and slalom times. The IS350 just about matches the 330i in most of these, save for slalom times. The slalom time for the IS350 is slower mainly due to VDIM.

Yes, Lexus does want the IS to compete with the 3 Series, since they are obviously in the same segment, BUT, Lexus wants to compete in their OWN way. They do not want to mimic or copy the 3 Series, they want to compete the Lexus way, and let the IS be it's own car, not a copycat.

Read what I said about VDIM. If you understand what VDIM is and how it works, you will realize it *does* affect the feel in the IS350, because it's different than most other electronic nannies.
