Close i was looking for camry prominent and the toyota vista since they all use the ES body.

First LS400 made 250hp and ES250 was about 152hp.

Just about... They decided the engine would have to be a V8 with displacement between 3.5 and 4.0 liters. The first engine began development in 1984 as a 3.5 liter V8, and was scrapped in 1986 for a 3.8 liter V8, which was subsequently done away with just a few months later and the 4.0 we all know today came along.

Obviously neither of the previous engines were offered to the public or used in any other car.

LS400 = 0-60 in 7.9 sec., 1/4 mile in 15.9 sec.
ES250 (5-speed manual) = 0-60 in 9.2 sec., 1/4 mile in 17.0 sec.
