Gas Prices (just jumped 30 cents in GA)

I guess my GS4 is going to have to sit out a round or two, gas just hit $1.40 a litre for regular, or in US terms, $5.30/gallon.

:( :( :( :( :(

If my math is right, yup, $5.30/gallon.

I was driving last night and noticed that gas has jumped in price over the past couple days. It's $2.97 a gallon...and that's for regular unleaded. Premium was $3.17.

I just filled up on Monday and it was $2.95 premium.

And it's only going to get worse

Not sure I can justify a fill up of $100. Forget a FI upgrade, I was thinking of putting a turbo diesel in.....Just kidding.

This time they blamed it on the hurricane in La...It always puzzled me ..How can an event that just happened affect the price of gas thats been sitting in a tanker or at the station for the past week or so?? :uh: Gonna have to let the Lex sit and break out the Ford Escort and the MC!!

I think I might have to put the GS in the driveway and buy a Ford Focus.... :egads:

Unfortunately I dont have a back up to the GS, so the a/c has been getting turned off, and the window and sunroof have been used a lot more lately

And its only going to get worse. Perhaps we will now be able to get our politicians to let us use the oil we have in our own lands to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. With 5% of our oil supply taken out by Katrina, the leverage that foriegn oil providers has on us only increases.

According to Yahoo news, the U.S. reserve field has been opened to defer some problems raised by Katrina. The issue with Katrina has nothing to do with foreign oil, nor deliveries from foreign countries. What was affected were 8 refineries in the gulf region that had to shut down. 4 of those refineries produced gasoline. What this did was hamper our countries ability to refine crude in a timely fashion. IMO, the increase you see today at the pumps is COMPLETE speculation by individual owners and oil companies, especially since it has absolutley no correlation to current barrel prices on the market (barrel prices eased somewhat today to drop back below $70 a barrel). I noticed this morning on the way to work that a gas station yesterday has premium for $2.89/gal, this morning it was $2.97/gal. Some people are blatantly trying to make a quick buck due to speculation that Katrina hurt oil imports!
