Subaru Posts Lower U.S. Sales in March
04.01.2005, 04:34 PM

Subaru of America Inc., a unit of Japan-based Fuji Heavy Industries, said Friday that its U.S. sales dropped 5.4 percent last month as demand lagged for most of its vehicles.

Overall sales totaled 17,301 in March, down from 17,606 in the year-ago period.

The company's sole gainer was its Forester line, which saw sales climb 3 percent to 5,851 units. Meanwhile, Legacy sales dropped 2 percent to 8,066 and Impreza sales fell 9 percent to 2,769.

Man...the number of BMW model variants is simply staggering (e.g. 12 variants for the 3-Series).
The new GS is a good start. Lexus needs to bring out the rest of their all-new passenger car lineup ASAP to beat BMW in car sales.

I wonder how that 5k/mo C-class sales will be affected by the new IS?

I think the IS is going to really take from all car makers.
1. It combines the RWD sport attributes of the 3/ and G35
2. With the FWD luxury attirbutes of the TL and and the A4.

Its the best of both worlds. Lexus gave it an ES 330 interior while keeping the sporty handling and now more powerful engines.

Lexus has no intentions of not being tops of class with the new IS. So all better watch out!

I also noticed that Toyota is going all out with the advertising of the Tacoma Pick ups again. I guess they are kind of surprised at how sales have not increased but are rather the same as last year, or a few units lower. Maybe because they still arent offering great deals on them yet. Oh well, time will tell.
