2005 Nissan Pathfinder (Interior)
When's Nissan going to start re-investing these incredible profits we all hear about into the design and construction of new vehicles?
A reliable drivetrain and a flashy exterior can't keep them afloat forever. Or maybe it can ... but I won't be buying.
This '05 Pathfinder interior is worse than my '01 Sentra.

Funny, I had a rented 2005 Pathfinder for about 6 weeks and it didn't look like that and I was actually pretty pleased at the interior... I guess it was a lower trim model with cloth seats and brushed aluminum dash,
I've read that the interior of the Pathfinders are better than those of the rest of the redesigned or added line up but I haven't seen one up close to judge but to me it looks awfully cheap compared with a Highlander or Pilot.

Yes, Nissans have eye catching style but their interiors are worse than GMs. GM has really turned it up with their interiors. Even The Koreans have much better interiors than Nissans.
But hey, they appeal to people who must not sitm touch and look inside the car, as outside the Quest, Nissans are selling like hotcakes.

I agree that Nissan interiors are not the best......but they are steadily improving now. Overall they are better than they were just a few years ago. The Altima, Maxima, and 350Z were especially dissapointing when they were redone a few years ago, but the latest Altima shows noticible improvement...especially in the new-for-2005 Altima SE-R. The Sentra's interior has already gotten some upgrades...as has the new Infiniti G35 with the lovely Rosewood console trim. The Maxima, I understand, is next.
Nissan / Renault chief Carlos Ghosn is keenly aware of the criticism his company has taken from many people (including me) on the cheapness of recent interiors....a direct result of cost cutting.....and has pledged to make improvements in this area, a promise he seems to be keeping.

If you want to see CHEAP with a CAPITAL C, go look at the new base Mustang V6's interior (not the GT). For all that car's classic good looks, the interior is so cheap it is literally offensive. Hyundai did a better job on the 1980's on the original Excel.
Nissan may have turned the company around but their quality has really dropped and if you where to compare the Newer Generation of Nissans (all US built) to the older Generation (mostly Japanese built) they are 2 different makes.
I've owned Nissan and their good quality cars, the new version are improving but I would not want 1 passed the warranty period, the VQ is an awesome engine but it may be hooked up to a weak trans cause way to many people are coming in for rebuilds or a new 1, and the Pathfinder problems are starting to come full effect, similiar problems that the Titan/Armada had, interior noises, electrical problems, under filled trannys and diffs
Several techs I know compare the quality of Nissan to Ford, at least Infiniti's are still built in Japan except for that QX56.
The Nissan dealer I use to go to several of the techs drove 4Runners and would not even consider a Pathfinder, Nissans probably the only import brand where the techs don't drive them, instead they drive Toyotas and Honda or the Datsun stuff

Yes....too many costs were cut too quickly at Nissan in the late 1990's in an effort to save the company. Interiors were only part of it. Ghosn is aware of the company's problems (even though most of this cost-cutting happened on his watch). It will take a few more years for the company to fully recover. Hyundai didn't recover overnight either from the disaster of the 1980's U.S. launch.....but when it did.....WOW. You know the story.....I don't have to repeat it here.
