What do you guys think (GS430 or LS430)

:) Hey guys how is it going?

I am at work and I was thinking to myself and I came up with a question and now I want to ask you guys. The LS 430 and the GS 430 are great cars but which is better? They both have great style and speed. This may be a stupid question but I was just wondering what you guys think?

LS for comfort, luxury, space, features, style.

GS for performance, but new style is coming out very soon so you might want to consider that.

I've seen the new GS and I am not that inpressed with it. I need to see it in person before I judge. I have the car that I want and that is an 01 IS 300. I love my car but for my next car I was thinking of one of these two cars. They both have V8's and have style.

Been discussed MANY times...

Here are some past threads where this has been discussed some by members of the LS forum:

Since this thread isn't related to the IS at all and doesn't really fit in GS or LS forums alone, I'm moving it to car chat.

LS430 vs. '06 GS430

The current LS430 has more recent technology going for it but the '06 GS430's will arrive this month and catch up quickly. The new GS430 will have Electric power steering with the new proprietary VDIM skid control system. It will have the equivalent 6 speed automatic with sequential shift. Not surprisingly the new GS430 has 5.6 second 0-60. The LS is no slouch at 5.9 seconds. It has a limited slip diff. and high pressure shocks that give it a Euro feel. The new Mark Levinson audio system in the GS430 will have 330 Watts and 7.1 surround sound using 14 speakers. If you are parked it can play a DVD movie on the Nav Screen. It will also take MP3 CD's. If you load it up it will get up to the LS430 price range of $60,000 with the Pre Collision System included. You get the rear back up camera and bluetooth phone just like the LS. It has the Adaptive front lighting system standard and Adaptive variable suspension. It rides on standard 18" wheels with all season run flats in our Eastern region. Lexus is aiming at the BMW 5 series and Mercedes E class which account for around 60% of the Sport/Lux sedan market. 2007 should bring a GS460h? hybrid that will use a 3.5 liter 310 HP paired with electric motor/generators that should blow some doors off. New LS coming too and others.....

i don't have the ls430 but i have driven it quite a bit. what i can say, if you want total luxury, the ls430 is very nice. but it definitely doesn't have as much sport spirit as the gs430. the gs430 is sportier, and imho, you give up quite a bit of luxury to gain that

If I had the money to swing I would definately buy the LS430 UL Pkg and this is coming from someone who had a GS. Perhaps i'm getting old. :) I'm sorry the new GS does nothing for me even thou it has alot of cool features. I know styling is subjective but for me i'm truly disappointed considering the 2nd Gen GS was and still is a beautiful sports sedan.

Just my 2 cents

amen to that :) the 2nd gen gs is phenomenal, the ls430 ul is exceptional, and 3rd gen gs, so far it's really just ok to me :)

Both are great car. However the GS4 appears to be more popular for the people that visit this website (by looking at the number of people currently viewing). However I see more LS4 in my area.

i thikn that's more coz' more people mod their gs than the ls. the ls is definitely more of a family and older man car, so maybe that's why

While you can't go wrong with either, & the LS does look more suitable for older people, but with the facelift in 04 it looks a lot better, I'll still take it over both the second generation & the new GS430.The LS has always been the signature car for Lexus on which it build it's reputation.

gekisai29 02-06-05 09:10 AM

when you're in this price range almos tevery vehicle will be nice... "better" is pretty subjective., particularly in the lexus family. imho the ls is hard to beat though especiall y if the rather consrvative styling is not an issue for you. it would be for me tthough

I've sat in an LS and it truly is amazing the sound-proofing and the lux.

The GS Mk.2 is only a little bit less luxury, but much sportier. The sound proofing isn't as good on the GS.

The GS is also narrowier and easier to park / maneouvre - there are also many more tuning options for the GS.

I think the LS is a great car if you're not into tuning or going really fast round corners / racetrack.

The GS is a much better bet for those who want an BMW M3/M5 with more luxury, or those like me who like tuning and racing other cars.

In an ideal world, I would have my tuned up GS (Aristo V300) and an LS also.
