Just a Five Hundred with a Lincoln badge to me. Still, FWD doesn't do much for me, so it's not something I would be looking at.

The bigger issue here is that someone put rims on a Satrun L and put it on CarDomain.

Actually it's based on the Mazda 6 and upcoming Ford Fusion.

I've owned a couple Lincoln Mark VII LSCs years ago, and they were better cars (luxury & performance wise) than their counterparts at the time, but now...

I honestly feel Lincoln (Ford) is out of touch with reality. I mean that sincerely.I don't "get it".

They may be catering to the Town Car crowd and thinking retired folk will love that (Zephyr) car. Man, I hope for their sake they're right, because this middle aged guy would walk right past that car and not give it a second look. May drive wonderfully, but it looks like a generic $20k car IMO.

They can and should do better.

HA! It's really about 15 cars hacked together starting with Caddy's edgy profile styling and going right on down the line from there.

Avalon, VW, Saturn .... pile of poop.

Built in Mexico? Seriously - this is a big mistake. What a hunk of junk.

I'm willing to bet that all of those interior trim pieces are plastic. Lincoln never uses real wood - so that's plastic; the center console is clearly borrowed from the Chrysler 300 - so that's plastic; all of the polished "aluminum" trim pieces look like Walmart-brand chrome door-protectors - so, uh, that's plastic, too.

I really want to like Lincoln, and was a bit dismayed when I heard their new 3-series/entry level luxury fighter would be FWD. I like the overall styling of the car, but that rear really is just terrible. Why can't car makers design nice looking front and rear lights anymore?

Maybe AWD will help the car sell, maybe it won't. It seems car companies now believe that AWD is going to be their savior. I wish they'd realize that you can't have crappy everything, then stick in AWD (!!!), and expect it to sell like hotcakes, for lack of a better word.

They recycle the Mazda6 platform and then waste a fairly noteable 6 AT on it? Penny pinching and very iffy styling. If I had to buy domestic I'd take a 6 MT 2.8 CTS over this thing.

Great point. The 6 has gotten rave reviews. More so overseas than here. Seems people overseas prefer the 6 for its handling. Here, we get the big pig Altima but with the VQ engine, it makes it a fast pig. Hell it ain't even sold anywhere but the USA.

AWD alone, of course, will not necessarily sell a car, but, without question, it is going to be the wave of the future, and one feature that will be more and more in demand. As many drivers age and lose some of their sharpness, AWD will help compensate for this by its superior wet-and snowy-road traction. Even not-so-old or fair-weather drivers like it for its fairly neutral handling on dry pavement.....without significant understeer or oversteer. It also tends to even out tire wear and require less tire rotation. Like any other auto feature, however, it has good and bad points. it does add weight and drag, requires 4 perfectly even tires all of the time, and requires more underbody inspections and service.

I was looking through an older issue of C&D today and saw the Zephyr prototype and it was MUCH better looking! It might have been the angle but it was much closer the the A6 and had some serious good looking curves. I'm not sure if Lincoln was afraid of making too bold of a statement but they should have stuck closer to the original design IMO.

Can you scan and post it? Like I said earlier, that is one area where you guys are way ahead of me. C&D keeps back issues on their website.
