Lippincott and Margulies, an image consulting firm in NY, presented Toyota with 219 names
Vectre, Verone, Chaparel, Calibre and Alexis. Alexis became the early leader.

George Borst pointed out Alexis was the name of crazy *** Joan Collins character on "Dynasty". John French dropped the A to create Lexis. Then it was changed to Lexus, which everyone felt had a luxurious and high-tech feel.
From my understanding it also connotates Luxury. Lenox Mall in Atlanta is a top tier mall for instance.

BTW, the Lexus emblem, is not a true ellipse, but a mathematically based shape.

The book also discusses how the relentless pursuit of prefection slogan was picked.

Lexus also had to battle Lexis, a company owned by Mead Data Central for copyright infringement.
So it had to go to court. Lexus being geniuses, did a survey. 78.3% of people never heard of Lexis or thought it was Joan Collins on Dynasty
But Toyota still looked for an alternative name just in case they won the case.
They didn't.
So Lexus is named after some b#tchy chick on Dynasty

When I say Lexi, I don't mean LexEEEEE I mean LexEYE. That's how Classical Latin pronounces it dammit and that's how I'm gonna do it.

I think there are exeptions to every rule. For example, Goose, Geese. Deer, Deer. So it should be Lexus, Lexus. It's logical to me to use the same work in pural or singular term. So I'll use "Lexus" as both.

It still just doesn't sound right- "I have two Lexus"

Now, how come this does sound right- "I have two Mercedes"

I however would like to nominate my own candidate for this using the word "crisis" as a model.

One Crisis, many crises.

One Lexus, many Lexes. Pronounced Lex-EAZE.

Examples!

Jan saw an assload of Lexes at the car show.
John has owned 5 Lexes and he's only 25. What a baller.
Jan only dates drivers of Lexes. Gold diggin hoe.
John's mid-life crisis has him pushing 2 Lexes, an SC on twankies and a VIP'd out LS with 20" Work Equips and Wald aero. He's the pimpest Rogaine user I know.

We need to start a poll and vote on these so we can make it official.
I always used Lexi or just plain Lexus for plural. But that sounds good too Lex-EAZE....good one Jose.

Believe it or not, you are actually right, or at least under Lexus statement... I have a friend who was doing a financial debate paper/report deal and asked me the same a couple of years back and when I couldnt come up with an answer, she went and wrote a letter to Lexus.. They answered saying that the proper way was "Lexus vehicles" plain and simple
