Default Mb Cls55 Amg

What do you guys think of the new MB CLS 55 AMG? Powerful and luxurious...not a bad combo! It won't handle as well as the new M5 or M6, but it sure looks more luxurious on the interior than the Bimmers. I think MB is really trying to improve on the build quality of their cars. Here's some specs and pics I got from another site...

Opposites Attract

Style. Power. Fascination. These attributes are not contradictory. They express the opportunity to be at one with one of the world’s most elegant and sporty cars.

The sporty heart of the CLS 55 AMG is the supercharged AMG 5.5-liter-V8-engine with an output of 350 kW/476 hp and an enormous torque of 700 Nm. Impressive figures which allow the CLS 55 AMG to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The unmistakable, muscular elegance of the CLS 55 AMG is accentuated by AMG styling, with dynamic front and rear spoilers, side skirts and the radiator grille with its three pronounced, silver-painted vanes and airflow breakaway edge.

Interior Highlights

Nappa-leather upholstery

AMG sports seats with transverse piping and alcantara inserts

AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in leather with gearshift buttons

AMG instrument cluster with 320 km/h scale

and "V8 Kompressor" lettering

Satin burr walnut trim

Chromed entry sills with AMG lettering

AMG SPEEDSHIFT 5-speed automatic transmission with steering

wheel gearshift and manual shift mode

Pedals in polished stainless steel with black non-slip rubber pads

Exterior Highlights

AMG styling

AMG airflow breakaway edge

Distinctive radiator grille with three silver-painted vanes

AMG sports exhaust system with two chromed twin exhaust tailpipes

AMG high-performance braking system

18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels of twin-spoke design

AMG sports suspension with coordinated AIRMATIC DC

"V8 KOMPRESSOR" lettering on the front wings

Technical Data

Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h s 4,7

Top track speed km/h 250 (electronically governed)

0 - 1000 m s 22,9

It's a little droppy, but I kinda like it. But probably in this price range, I would go for the Maserati.

HOT HOT HOT !

I saw the regular CLS at the LA Auto Show last year. I like it a lot -- with the AMG treatment it only gets better

I've gotta say, the CLS really isn't my thing....

The interior is nice, however the last pics I saw of the interior made me want to puke cause of the color.

The performance may be amazing on this AMG version, but I'd take the S, E, SL, or CL AMG models over this anyday.

I'd have to see it in person b4 I can pass judgement. I'm starting to see a trend here, most newer cars these days are taking on a kind of oblongish type of shape with a pinched rear....who knows, maybe it's just me

Quattroporte ... hands down - even if it is a little slower.

But the Maserati retails well over its ~$100,000 starting price once configured to owner specs ... I'm pretty sure the 19 inch wheel option alone is around 10,000 dollars extra.

So what numbers are we talking about for the CLS 55 AMG?

(I'm seriously impressed by the prelim pictures of the CLS's interior, though ... niiiice)

i would definitely take the maserati. ferrari 360 engine. enough said.
as much power at the mb's pull out, the redline is 6k (top gear). no fun. i think this mb looks ok. but i'd still take the maserati
