Same here, the Phaeton has a beautiful interior but the exterior is too derivative of the Passat!!

Audi RS6 please (slightly used)

The Phaeton would be an awesome car if they were a bit more aggresive and be a little more risky with their exterior design, IMO the rear of the car is just a little too round for me. The interior is nice but that's just my opinion

im not a fan of volkswagon but this car has a nice exterior appeal to me. :)

im not sure why vw made the phaeton when it will compete with the audi a8.....

i dont see it selling so much though, bc people who buy cars like a8, ls430, and 7 series.... arent going to opt for a beefed up vw at the same price.....

It's amazing after all the comments on how the new GS looks too much like a Maxima that VW thinks they can sell this car. After seeing it at the SF auto show, it is hard to feel it is much more than a plus size Passat. I was disappointed.

<flame suit on> I think it's a much better looking car than the new GS. The proportions are perfect. The interior is an order of magnitude better than the GS and it doesn't have a huge buttinski. The only thing I don't like is I think the VW logo is too big. I don't mind it being a VW, it's just they could have made that more subtle.

wait, what?

vw hasnt heard any comments about the new gs looking like a maxima, and seeing how that is lexus looking like a nissan instead of vw looking like a vw, it doesnt really matter. vws all have similar characteristics anyway and this car just follows suit. making it look like a cheaper car isnt bad when its your own car you're mimicing.... i.e. bmw (older) and audi (newer)

Went I drove down to indianapolis to see the autoshow there they had 2 Phaeton's both of which I sat in. As in most vw's the interior is very cheap looking and everything I could see on the car that was a "luxury option" the LS 50 feet away had the same thing but done 1,000 times nicer and more effective/efficantly. I'm not just saying that because I have a lexus, its a sub-par luxury car inside, I wish I could've driven it around a little bit to get a better idea of the drive, power, ect...

I will say though if that was like the new ES or whatever i'd pay $30,000+ for it, I like the styling just not that its a VW.

I think the car is pleasant looking yet it is without a doubt as stretched out VW. I think the VW division is pushing dupicate with the Audi A8. Only time will tell if the Phaeton will receive the recognition as a luxo class car. At such a jump in price, it may be nostalgic for 60's and 70's drivers to once again own a VW but in high trim...not. They are already driving Benzies and probably have a Porsche turbo as a garage mate.

When Toyota brought out the LS400, it was not at a price point dramatically different from the Cressida... it was a palitable upgrade. I'd opt for two Passats, at least when I have electrical problems I'll have another car to drive. :D ;) :p

I looks nice but it has a really fakey pontiac texture to it. I'll devlope the film tommorw and post some pics.
