And it's good! Scion tC!
Whooo....Check out all these standard features! All for a price that is rumored to be $18K-$20K? Who could ask for more? Toyota really got it right this time...

Reply to wantAnewLex / Scion prices
Keep one thing in mind about the Scion prices......Scion is going to do what Saturn pioneered almost 15 years ago......one-price / no dickering. It will be factory sticker plus tax and tags...period. No discounts.....No markups. Dealer accessories, though.......of course, that may vary. I got this straight from the Scion reps at the Washington D.C. Auto Show yesterday.

I think it's great. Scion's are really growing on me. Better built than some luxury cars too.:D

Wow, before the tC I hated every scion, but this actually looks nice and if i was in the market for buying myself a new car for around 20K it would be either this or the SRT-4. I'm really likeing it!

The tC is based on the new Avensis, which I think is a very nice car in its own right. Shame they aren't sold here. Anyway, the Avensis is one of only a handful of cars tested by EURONCAP (which, arguably, has the toughtest standards in the world) to earn the coveted 5-star rating, so you know this thing is gonna be safe.
Bravo, Toyota, bravo. |
I mist say, best looking Toyota since, well, forever, if you leave the Lexus line out. I would definitely consider this as a replacement for the subie as an everyday car

Excellent looking car. What the A4 should have been!

Originally posted by wantAnewLex Well, not every college kid (i.e. myself) can afford an ultra-modified LS. This thing brings a decent measure of performance/styling, outstanding safety, great standard equipment, and Made-In-Japan Toyota quality for under $20K. With a supercharger, it'll still probably be no more than $21K or so. It's reason enough for me to be excited. By the way, combined EPA is 24MPG...Not exactly a gas saver. |
I like that toyota is trying to get the first time buyers market and at the same time offering good product at a fair price.

Someone mentioned it in another thread and I completely agree with that. That Scion is probably a very cool car but still just another gas saver. This is a great way for Toyota to make waves in the marketplace. This thing is going to beat all hell out of its competition. Sure, cars like the SRT4 and the Mazdaspeed 3 (if and when it is released) will probably go faster and maybe even handle better, but they won't/don't offer such unique equipment and sure as heck as don't offer the quality and even the style. Not to mention they'll cost more. This coupe, dare I say it, borders on understated elegance (considering its market segment). This car can appeal to pretty much anyone, such as a college student like me looking for an affordable primary vehicle that "has it all" or someone like SDuquette who is looking for a daily driver vehicle that doesn't cut many corners. I'm sure the tC has taken a lot of the compeition by surprise. I still am skeptical that they can offer all that for "well, WELL, under $20K" and I'm sure Toyota's competitors are trying to figure out just how they did it. It wasn't long ago that panoramic glass roofs were a $5000 option on select Benzes. First they took the luxury market by storm. Now they're going after the entry/compact market. Don't forget they own the middle segment. Can anything stop Toyota? |
Can anything stop Toyota? This car is also the replacement for the Celica. The Celica is no more ya'll. |
Originally posted by 1SICKLEX Nope. I like the Scions and I like this new Xc. This car is also the replacement for the Celica. The Celica is no more ya'll. But yeah, I think the tC will do nicely as a replacement. Funny thing is, they were gonna name is xC, but Volvo already uses that name for their wagon. tC= Toyota Celica ?? :cylon: |
