Default Mustang GT In For Review... Has Ford Lost the Plot?

Ford sent over a Molten Magenta Mustang GT Premium for review today. Again, a GT, not a Dark Horse or Dark Horse SC (aka GT500)

$74K window sticker?!?!?!?!

I mean, it looks cool, but has Ford lost the plot? Is this just where inflation has taken us? Let me know if I can answer any questions.

This is not exactly the subject of pricing, but, as for paint, I don't think I have ever seen a Mustang that color before. Dodge and Plymouth built some "Plum Crazy" purple Challengers and Barracudas, and, in the early 70s, a low-production "Panther Pink" color, but I don't ever remember Ford doing a Mustang like that in a factory color.

Another interesting fact about this... the color is Molten Magenta Metallic, BUT it also has a factory-ordered $6,000 PFF matte wrap overtop of it. Granted, I know the MSRP is a bit much, but as far as I know, $6K is fairly reasonable for full-body paint protection film.

Funny, though, the only things not wrapped are the roof (which is black for the Nite Pony Package) and the door handles.

It looks good but I'm not sure I see $74k here.

Still thinking... 😀

This thing must have a lot of options - base GTs start under $50k…

That sounds more like it.
Maybe it's equipped with some good stuff.

I like the Perelli tires.

$21K in options, basically every major package and feature save for the Convertible and the 10-speed Auto

It does, but the GT Premium starts at $51k. The moment you go into the configurator and it adds paint and destination, it's already $54k. Configured the way I'd want it, a GT Premium fastback comes to $69,920 including destination.

gt pkg is $5445 (worth it)
i could do without ACTIVE VALVE EXHAUST ($1595) and recaro seats ($1595) so that's over $3k less. and taking off ppf is another $6k less so that would take it from $74k to $65k.

definitely a fun, great looking and capable 'classic' car! i think $65k is worth it!

The active exhaust is a must have, you
know so you can select the volume at will....because it sounds great.

You guys are living in a different time. $74K for a totally optioned car like that including a $6K PPF wrap makes total sense to me today.
