The Ford has a resonator delete and an 18" straight through Magnaflow muffler. It sings plenty loud. I don't cold start it at late hours.
Perfection. I should have known, my bad.
I had them cut the muffler off the old 2003 Yukon and it sounded ******* fantastic, it even crackled and popped a bit!!!!!! It cost like fifty bucks lol.
I miss that truck, it was a total beater but refused to die or break. And it sounded damn good..
I want to do something with the LX but my options are limited with the 200 platform. The Toyota 5.7 sounds MEANNN with an exhaust. Every bit as mean as a domestic.
I often peruse through the Car and Driver Archived reviews. Today was a fun one so I thought I'd point it out. I copied the first part of the article below.
1990 Lexus ES250 Test: More Than a Tarted-Up Camry
Its big brother gets the headlines, but the junior Lexus needn't run in anyone's shadow.
From the May 1990 issue of Car and Driver.
You know the background here. Toyota launched its high-gloss Lexus Division last fall, with the landmark, clean*-sheet LS400 in the lead role. Because one $35,000 car would not make a franchise, however, the company also introduced the ES250, a less expensive running mate designed to broaden the marque's appeal and boost its sales volume. (A couple of months later, Nissan took the same tack with the Infiniti M30; Honda had set the course with the Acura Integra in 1986.)
To create the Lexus cars, Toyota obviously had to commit the bulk of its engineering resources to the all-new flagship. The supporting model therefore had to—be based on an existing platform, with just enough upgrading to disguise its origins and make it fit the new division's image. Thus the Toyota engineers started with one of their bread-and-butter cars, the front-drive Camry V-6 sedan, and—applying Michelangelo's method—chipped away everything that didn't look like a Lexus.
How you rate the success of that approach depends on what you think "the Lexus difference" should be. If you consider the LS400's uncanny lack of engine and road noise to be a necessary part of the Lexus profile, you might be disappointed in the ES250. But that means you're judging the understudy by the standards of the master, which is unfair for a number of reasons—among them the LS400's vastly greater price. On the other hand, if the name "Lexus" makes you expect a comfortable, beautifully appointed sedan with accurate road manners, you'll find the Camry-derived car a worthy member of the family.
The ES250's Camry origins show in its basic body proportions: a highly conservative, soft-edged-box shape that's almost generic Japanese. The ES250's frameless door glass and disappearing B-pillar treatment give it a more sporty, quasi-coupe look, however, and the slightly heavy-handed trademark Lexus grille further distinguishes it from its Toyota cousin. While we can't picture anyone truly falling in love with the ES250's appearance, we also can't imagine anyone hating it.
Our own feelings are less ambivalent when we look around inside the ES250. Here, in the driving environment, the clean, conservative execution makes good sense. And the car scores high on every critical detail judgment. Seats? Very good, with firm support and natural shape. Instrument panel? About perfect, with clear gauges, well-designed controls, and an attractive design. Materials? Excellent, especially with the $950 leather option, which feels right and looks good with the standard bird's-eye maple cappings on the front-door switch panels and the center console. Workmanship? Nearly flawless. Features? Endless, from power everything and a driver-side air bag to a six-speaker audio system (with optional compact-disc player) and a first-aid kit.
looked like more time when i watched the timeline but regardless, i think the tesla driver just backed off.
since the channel is "Bayeaux CTR" i thought it was you, but ok! congrats to that supra driver then. bet they feel great. 🤔
that's neat. does it auto turn watching the other car?
It was presented as a plaid…you questioned it
Tesla backed off after it knew it wouldn’t catch up after getting the hit and the initial jump
Supra beat several fast cars that night
Yes the camera will auto turn…if the plaid was ahead the camera would’ve stayed facing forward or if they were side by side etc…pretty neat

B58 responds to few mods pretty well. DP+ tune + splash of 🌽⛽️ and you have yourself a potential 10 sec car.

Ran the same muffler Frank runs in his F150 on my Tundra while it did sound good (some drone) until I eventually grew tired of it after 8-9yrs. Like Frank mentioned, the cold starts were loud.

Yeah see, LX is ridiculously quiet. It's as quiet as the LS430 at speed, IDK HTF they did that. LS430 was the sleekest production automobile in the world at the time with a .25 cd.
I really, really don't know how they made the 6200lb brick on wheels LX seemingly just as silent inside as an LS but they did.
The Yukon has a great exhaust for factory and you don't hear it from inside. Which is why I remote start it every time I approach it from the rear. Let me hear that V8!

you seem very conflicted loving how quiet it is and loving how loud it is.
Supra beat modified C6 Z06, C6 ZR1, twin turbo Mach 1 before racing the plaid. Then Supra beat a BMW S1000RR
I don’t doubt it was a Plaid, TX2K is no joke with very fast cars with many over 1500hp. I’ve seen a video of a TTViper that made the Plaid look like it wasn’t even trying.
