The video in the river is 100% user error, the video on the beach is basically the same. The driver likely didn't air down tires, but even with that precaution anything can get stuck in free flowing sand. Neither of them particularly enlightening, and how the second one is newsworthy escapes me.

tbf has any stock similar pickup driven from factory to trail end worked? I know rubicon jeeps work, but different size.

That type of torture testing is usually kept internal

impressive. the story:
https://stories.rivian.com/r1s-first...-rubicon-trail

the video:

noticed this...

  • The drive was completed by Rivian's test and development team that is trained and experienced in advanced off-road driving, as well as fire safety and Tread Lightly! principles.
unlike the crack heads click trolls that made that earlier video here.

I am (still) a CT reservation holder, and was very interested in getting it, BUT:

- towing range was dismal (my model X could tow longer)
- structural concerns about unibody bumper
- build quality was lacking... Ss panels falling off
- styling was still not looking "finished"
- cost was much higher than advertised, even before the foundation tax

In the end, I got my SEV instead and have no regrets! So for me, their target demographic (Tesla owner, suburban guy, etc), it is a failure

The reality is Elon made a LOT of lofty promises about the CT, and thats why videos like that Rubicon one are so devastating. It was supposed to be the toughest, best offroad etc on and on.

Elon doesn't seem reluctant to engage in public demonstrations. Anyone remember the Cyber truck's so-called armored glass demo? Afterward, Telsa reportedly claimed 200,000 preorders. Could have burned the thing to the ground and it would't have changed the enthusiasm which blossomed to a claimed one million preorders.

It is failure by every single metric you can measure it.

Seems like a good vehicle, trapped in silly clothes.

The million preorder enthusiasm is a joke. It never translated into sales which have fallen off a cliff.
