General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
It will go into limp mode, but you’re not going to get far and not at speeds required by most roads. Plus that can damage the battery and the hybrid system.
It all goes back to why risk that? Fuel in your tank doesn’t go to waste because when you fill it you just buy less lol

On PHEV Rav, I was traveling 67mph just fine when the engine died. I continued on, picked up my wife for lunch, and drove to a gas station close to where we were having lunch at. When the engine died, I drove another 10+ miles in EV mode. In EV mode you can travel up to 84mph before it calls for gas.
Idk why I do it. Like the saying goes, stupid games win you stupid prizes.
Just like EV owners don’t like to stop for fuel, neither do I.
Margate, if one were to believe everything they read on the internet about running low on fuel, I would be changing fuel pumps weekly. @AJT123 how many fuel pumps have you changed from running on fumes?
What’s more annoying, stopping for fuel or being stranded because you’re out of gas?
As for fouling fuel pumps, you either want to maintain your car or you don’t. You’re so averse to a car needing repair I’m surprised you don’t want to take better care of your cars.

Well, most of us don't have a Magic-Wand to keep going that we can wave over our tanks when they go dry. We have to watch our gas-gauges.....although, in my case, that still doesn't mean much, because I usually don't let it get much below half-full.

Also if I can avoid it, I rather not pump gas at night.
I have ⛽️ and 🔌 at home.
I agree it doesn’t make sense.

Remember you posted you can pass 5 cars at once in your Mercedes. There’s only 1 way you know that…you F’d around and Found out. 🤣🤣🤣
What I’m doing doesn’t come even close!! 🤣
I've been driving that car for over 13 years. I know when it needs gas and when it REALLY needs gas lol. Once that needle starts to dip below the line, get gas asap.
Being stranded with no gas is such a huge imposition and not to mention unsafe it’s just not worth the risk. Same thing about at night. Dont want to pump gas but what about being stranded on the side of the road at night with no gas? Just get gas at 1/4 tank or even when the light comes on and that’s just never an issue.
Plus when I control when and where I get gas I can choose the brand I want and the cheapest place. I hate having to get gas down in DC or Bethesda for instance because it’s way more expensive.
