New shop furnace installed and almost finished, not totally automated just yet but close. I still need to manually turn off one step

Positive displacement oil pump, fully adjustable and serviceable, full automatic control with programmable everything including pre-heat and all delays. All OTS parts to ensure infinite operation span. Currently getting about 80k BTU at .5-.75 gallons of used oil per hour, exhaust is extremely clean and the new draft control works perfectly

Bit if you’re ever in Texas/Louisiana get a little closer, look up, and say howdy 🤠. Promise not to roll coal. It just “vapes” a little bit 🤥 Glad to see you in the appropriate lane…which is where I see majority EVs🙃

So black smoke from a diesel is caused by unburned fuel(ie, their tune is dumping more fuel than they can burn with the air the turbo is pushing in). If that's a 24 valve with the electronically controlled fuel system, he might have a chip/tune that he can change how much smoke it puts out(a lot of diesel bros like more smoke, and judging by his stacks I assume he is one of them). If it's the older all mechanical 12 valve, the way he's configured the mechanical pump is causing this. Not really adjustable on the fly, but almost certainly intended when he modded it.

It's a waste of fuel and pretty childish. I thought it was cool in my teens, though I myself have never owned a diesel. Lost any interest in rolling coal by the time I was an adult.

However, older non-emissions controlled diesels will smoke a bit even stock. I'm not bothered by it because that was the technology of the time. Newer diesels have computer controlled injection and all kinds of tricks to eliminate smoke and clean up the emissions.

You can still tweak the old ones to be smokeless, mine never smokes at all unless it's super cold and that's only on startup. Even that is a puff of black/white for only seconds

Striker, did you see 2026 3.5 Ecoboost F-150's are apparently getting a gasoline particulate filter similar to diesels? So dumb.

Mine runs clean >99% of the time. It always puffs on a cold start, then immediately cleans up. Sudden WOT gives another puff which disappears as soon as the big turbo spools.

that beats the old tape the soda can to the steering wheel 'hack' that people would do

mercedes annoys me like that there's so many deactivated features even in my car that just require software tweaks... my transmission has an "agility mode" that was only in use for certain european models, as well as additional features related to the SBC braking

Yeah but it's been a thing overseas for a while, quick and easy to remove at least.

At least it's as simple as coding stuff back on, not like Lexus where they are missing the hardware entirely vs JDM cars.

Yes, that can be unlocked with coding, like the intelligent lights and such. I just found out yesterday I could have sliding turn signals...

the one bit of "coding" i did (it's just pressing buttons to access hidden menus lol) was to make it so when COMAND is switched on it now displays the AMG logo instead of the standard mercedes logo

that and bringing up the live battery voltage in the cluster is about the extent of what can be done without an entire STAR or xentry system

EU has GPFs to meet e7, and the current revision of the b58 motor has it. Unlike diesels, its hassle free.
