Trust me, many customers loved it. I'm not saying all, but trust me if they'd offer it as a N/C option the take rate would be big.
why should i “trust you”? lol
The last gen Escalade they were about to ax it but didn't because of customer response. This may not be everyone's favorite but it is mine, this is a truck after all. Those shifters feel so good to slam around, it's hard to explain. GM always did column shifters right in trucks.
“slam around” is about right… i’ve NEVER used a column shifter that had ANY precision to gear engagement… just a sloppy slippery “oh maybe that’s it” pull down.

quite nice? looks like a hockey stick bolted to the steering column.

I mean, it IS a GM truck after all lol! They haven't really changed much that you can't swap around from a 2000-2025 haha!
Jokes aside I tend to always carry oil with my cars anyway, never had to use it but I always bring 1/5th total cap as well as 1/3 quart of brake fluid and 1L of coolant. Probably a waste of time as I've never needed to use it but it's just hanging out under the spare tires
@AJT123 I saw this by me this weekend. Check out the headrest covers. The pics are from my dashcam
Hart to Hart baby
Nice! I saw an R107 today and it was mint.
Currently the SL is at Mercedes collision getting the bumpers repainted, then tires put on it once I get it back, a really expensive detail, then it ceramic coated and PPF on the bumpers as soon as it's safe to put it on there after a fresh repaint.
The funny thing, my spouse hasn't driven that car in a year and a half and is more adamant than even I am about spending every penny we need to to keep it in 1000000% pristine shape. For example, leaving the top broken over the winter was my plan... It was fine, affixed in the up position. No big deal. We can afford it no problem, but.... hey why pay $3300 gong into a winter when I could do it in the spring? It wasn't ok with the ball and chain lol.... who NEVER drives it and hasn't even taken a ride in at least a year.
I sorta lucked out in the spouse department, for many reasons... but it is stuff like this. Spouse is well aware how happy that car makes me, and loves it too but just isn't as intense of a car person as we are. Getting better by the day, though. I'm starting to get impressed.

Does he ever drive the SL or the LX?
My wife really only drives the Highlander. She will drive the GS if needed, like when her Highlander is in the shop or if I need the Highlander to haul additional people. She'll drive the truck, but not often, as she isn't comfortable driving it. And she'll NEVER drive the truck with the trailer attached...

Oh yeah. The only car he never really touches is my LS430, not really for any particular reason. He loves the Denali but likes the LX even more…mainly bc of the tidy size (for a large SUV). Loves the Benz too but just has a very demanding job, it’s one of those phases where 60 hour weeks are just the norm. It just cracks me up how crazy adamant he is about that car when he doesn’t even drive it!!! Or ride in it!!! This will change once his hours inevitably calm down but still. A scratch on that Benz and he’d be telling me to go get it fixed ASAP. lol.
I am afraid the LC500 plans are going to be put on the back burner, for at least a couple years longer than expected. We need a swimming pool more than a 5th car. Spouse would die in a good way if we had a nice pool.
I want the LC but I have my literal dream car in the garage already so I think I’ll be okay.
My wife is resistant to drive the W12s because she fears how rare they are, she will drive the TT car though and go actively hunt with it so it's not a fear of power thing lol!
She also refuses to drive my truck for similar reasons, can't exactly replace it and I put too much of my own time into it.
It's a figure of speech... Don't read too much into things. But yeah, I know a thing or two about these trucks believe it or not.. Going back a long way.
I'm also a die hard GM fan, own a fancy GM truck... I read GM things/news all the time, do you? If you did you'd know that the "Slade owners insisted on that column shifter in the last gen. I suppose now the interior is just too year 2076 in these things, but they're finally scaling all this crap back and admitting we want buttons (duh) and not an Apollo 56 display burned into our faces.

LOL if you think that's how that Escalade shifter and potential shifter in the current gen would be "sloppy" you're just showing more how you've never really used them.
That 2003 Yukon's shifter was fantastic... It wasn't a Denali or Escalade, no leather, no chrome on the shifter.. just a plastic stalk. The detents were great, not sloppy at all, and like I said, slam that fkn thing into park all day long. It was part of the appeal. I would want it to have a nice leather surround but I'd absolute without question have taken that over the buttons if given the choice, and so would many others. Not all, I never said that. But so many of these buyers love trucks, and what is more "American truck" than a cHunky *** column shifter and a burly *** V8?
And on the contrary, I could not imagine my LX in a million years with anything but a gated shifter. Anything else just doesn't compute.
The only really sloppy column shifter I remember is the the in the 98 Town & County, but it was a 90's Chrysler, what WASN'T sloppy?
Column shifters have always just felt right to me in automatics. It's what I grew up with(other than manuals).
I may go down to the dealer and open up a 2500 and see for myself how it feels, the column shifter. I'm sure it's fantastic and more than satisfying to use.
