what you've never heard of this car?!? it's meant to be like a retro throwback thing to the BMW 507 roadster from the 50s, it used the V8 from the E39 M5
amongst other things it was the bond car for Pierce Brosnan's 3rd film (not a great movie but Pierce of course just looked so damn bond)
i remember when it was a new car Clarkson was quite critical of it on top gear, these days people tend to hold it in high regard... personally i think it's beautiful and has one of the coolest steering wheels fitted by a mainstream manufacturer in the last several decades
Have you driven the Defender 90 with the SC 5.0L V8? I only recently found out it existed. I want to test drive one of these things so bad now. I'd much rather have one of those over a GX 550, which I still like.
Yes, it's badass and totally what you would expect.
I think he THINK his argument is that the length of the pickup creates flex. He clearly has no experience with any pickup within the last 20 years.
I think he’s both.
Can’t agree with that. I see a lot of high end cars destroyed because of high speed, including those driven by skilled drivers. Of course those crashes are rare because very few people have cars like that and few of those are so foolish as to drive them that way on public roads.
Yeah that’s his argument. It’s wrong coming from you too lol. It depends on what you tow, and I would ask how modern a BOF truck you were towing with, your Sequoia doesn’t compare to a modern BOF pickup. Like
i said to that guy, just look at what people who tow serious trailers are using. Go to a horse event. You don’t see unibody SUVs. When you’re towing over 6-7000 lbs you are much better off in a BOF vehicle and that’s overwhelmingly what people use. I would tow a race car or a couple jet skis behind a unibody SUV no problem but not any serious load.
Did you seriously just compare a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a Porsche Cayenne?
You’re now lost to us lol.
You have never towed. I have more experience than you do and at horse events it's all heavy trucks, at half ton levels they ALL suck vs those. I am specifically referring to half ton level loads and also said in my post anything serious you need a 2500+ class vehicle and usually those are only trucks aside from some very limited ford and GM options.
I have used many current gen trucks and half tons suck for it and I will take a same size suv instead, my sequoia is better than any non-air suspension half ton btw because it doesn't squat or have trailer shock.
sure on basis of cargo room similarity, performance, and price. they’re obviously very different vehicles though. sorry you can’t handle such a comparison with facts.
there you go, speaking for ‘us’ to attempt to alienate the ‘one’ with your ‘lol’. you’re so transparent. “lol”
Go to any boat ramp and count parked 1500s versus crossovers lol.
That's because trucks are cheap, here at the private marina if we again exclude the 2500s and only look at the half tons it's closer to a 50/50 split between the max trim 1500s and Range Rovers/escalades/expeditions and other large fancy SUVs
U-Haul trailer is 2100-2200lbs and my car weighs 3100lbs.
However my enclosed trailer is a lot heavier than 2k lbs. More than double that empty.
My Tundra came stock with a slight rake in the rear but I leveled the front end (2-2.5 inch lift) of my truck so it sits level front and back when unloaded which causes sag when towing a heavy trailer unless you have air bags. In the pic you posted I actually have roadactive suspension installed on my truck which is supposed to help reduce rear sag. I’m returning them because it doesn’t help as much as I hope and seem like it makes the truck ride more rough due to the stiffer suspension. I will eliminate all rear sag with air bags. My truck is a 1794 so it has all bells and whistles Toyota offered which reduces its payload.
This is pic of the road active suspension I have on the rear of my truck which in the pic.
Just put air on it.......though you are already well past what many would consider a comfortable load for a half ton.

I have absolutely towed, as have all the people here disagreeing with you.

Despite my mom having a 321i growing up, I never even looked at a BMW until we bought ours this year. I went into the dealership with zero knowledge. Like I texted my cousin (drives an X7) asking what’s the difference between a 40i, 50i and 60i while at the dealership. I told the sales guy give me a day to research, I don’t know anything about the X7. Definition of impulsive purchase!! 🫣😆

Sure you have, what have you used has a tow vehicle?
A half ton truck is not a 2500+ class vehicle at all, they are far closer to passenger cars and suck at towing because they are too soft in the rear end and usually don't self level. At that level I would rather have a full size SUV and anything past it just go with a real truck or you will have the engine screaming and getting single digit mpg. That's aside from the lack of comfort as well
Half tons just do not impress me unless the goal is a one vehicle does everything mostly well and has all utility bases covered because you can't afford to have a dedicated tow vehicle and normal cars.
Your argument of "modern" or not is pointless when the sequoia didn't mechanically change other than a transmission for the whole second gen and it's the same story with the Tundra. Same story with all the domestics other than the new turbo engines but at least they offer better suspensions and overall options for towing at the lowest price points but again, if you are serious get a 2500
I’ve towed with a 1/2 ton truck, a Nissan Xterra and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Please don’t call
me a liar, I have never called you a liar in the face of all of your frankly ridiculous things you have said you do and have done lol.
And all the 1/2 ton trucks are all on new generation frames, the Sequoia is also on a new generation frame from the one you have. All of those frames are all much more rigid than the previous frames. 1/2 ton trucks have nothing in common with passenger cars which of course you know.
Don’t single me out and argue with me. Argue with everybody else posting that also disagrees.

Just my opinion but my 1/2 truck doesn’t suck at towing or any 1/2 ton truck I’ve had. The 3/4 ton have stiffer rear suspension. When my friend went from his 1/2 ton Sierra to 3/4 ton Duramax the first thing his wife said was she hated how the truck rode…empty. I started towing with a 3/4 ton gas Silverado and it doesn’t have the best ride and my Tundra tows better imo. I towed with the 3/4 ton Silverado for a track season before picking up my 1st tundra.
I may go out on a limb and say there’s more 1/2 ton trucks towing daily than you will see 3/4 ton trucks towing. The 1/2 ton can’t suck that bad? Again the 3/4 Silverado we use around town is a gas motor…I would assume it’s screaming too right?
Me towing that load, The trailer is 8k empty…does it appear my truck is screaming? Why was I towing hay, because the 5.9 Cummins dually was in the shop getting the transmission rebuilt.
Towing my car enclosed hauler. Do the RPM appear to be screaming?
This is just my experience. Now on steep incline I will drop it down to 4th if I want to maintain my speed up the hill. I’ve only floored my truck once which was 2 weekends ago coming home from track and I was ready to get home so I maintained pace up the hill riding in left lane because I didn’t want to get over in the right lane to let the cars I just passed pass me by just to pass them again after I top the hills. I had about 3 cars behind me following my pace. 82-85mph

BMW articles/videos, I used to skip over them.
aww man you're lucky then... you weren't paying attention during the BMW glory years of the 90s and early 00s so you don't know what a fall from grace the brand has taken haha
to be fair the Z8 is so rare even casual bimmer fans probably don't know about it, i've only seen one a handful of times and it's not like they sold many when it was new either... one of the very few BMWs ever you could make money on as the original owner!
