A super would make it close to the Rover 5.0SC engine but the trans is not going to be quite as good as a ZF, the new tundra and reliable are not two things that go together lol!
At least with a 6.2 I can replace the bearings myself, at home, in under 8 hours as is the case with ANY pushrod engine since they are as simple as you can make a V8. The Toyota TTV6 you can't even get parts for and 2024s are still blowing up in the same manner as before on replacement engines

Have you driven the Defender 90 with the SC 5.0L V8? I only recently found out it existed. I want to test drive one of these things so bad now. I'd much rather have one of those over a GX 550, which I still like.
watched the video… aside still can’t stand those guys’ juvenile style and ‘acting’, but anyway, the car is impressive, but seems like something that’s trying to be everything. porsche is certainly skilled in handling and performance for such a big vehicle in particular. the cayenne’s space inefficiency is pretty big. it’s 14” longer than a rav4 (194 vs 180”) with much less cargo room (27/60 vs 38/70). an ioniq 5N has almost as much cargo space (26/59), a bigger wheelbase (118 vs. 114”), and is WAY faster and half the price, with less piano black plastic, lol.
I have the SUV version of the Cayenne so cargo is a little better than the coupe but you are also comparing an EV to a ICE and I doubt many are cross shopping the two. I get over 400 miles to a full tank which is a good bit more than the Ionic 5N which is pathetic and I use my Cayenne for long trips. I tried a couple times traveling with my Plaid and the experience for the trips I took were awful so again, most aren’t cross shopping those.
I do agree the Ionic 5N is way faster and probably handles better but the interior is a joke compared to the Porsche. Yes the center console and passenger side dash is piano black (it’s actually glass over black but whatever) but the rest of the dash and doors are leather and real carbon fiber and the materials used aren’t even close. However, you do pay for it dearly in the price. Is it overpriced, yeah it is but it drives near perfect for me as an SUV and the reviewers said the same.
Again, apples and oranges comparison just like if you compared a Model X/Y to it, just completely different cars.
Towing same load with LX 570 and my Tundra, at higher speeds the trailer would get a little squirrelly in the LX570 whereas in the Tundra it would stay planted at same and even higher speeds. But I see guys who tow their track cars with SUVs everytime I go to the track.
Better than a 1/2 truck? That’s a stretch. Trucks typically have longer wheelbase than SUVs that helps with towing.
I think he THINK his argument is that the length of the pickup creates flex. He clearly has no experience with any pickup within the last 20 years.

Is that GLE guy insane? Or just a professional troll? I guess I should stop working in Mercedes cars then, apparently an 100% repair success rate with zero comebacks means I'm an idiot.
I think he’s both.

Can’t agree with that. I see a lot of high end cars destroyed because of high speed, including those driven by skilled drivers. Of course those crashes are rare because very few people have cars like that and few of those are so foolish as to drive them that way on public roads.

Best thing I have ever towed with has been a L405 5.0 supercharged, totally smooth, composed, massive brakes, excessive power, and just overall amazing. The active anti-roll system is just incredible for towing control and comfort combined with the air sus, I have never checked to make sure my trailer was there as much as I did with that car because it's just TOO easy.
My sequoia is good but the engine is weak/needs a hell of a lot of RPM, I'm never in a hurry though so it doesn't matter to me but the difference is staggering when you swap between those two vehicles in the same week. It also is reflected in the tow rating even though one is an aluminum unibody vs BOF.
The limiting factor with most non-BOF stuff is tongue weight as it will screw up the chassis on bad roads. You also can't have too light of a tow vehicle or the trailer will abuse you badly
Yeah that’s his argument. It’s wrong coming from you too lol. It depends on what you tow, and I would ask how modern a BOF truck you were towing with, your Sequoia doesn’t compare to a modern BOF pickup. Like
i said to that guy, just look at what people who tow serious trailers are using. Go to a horse event. You don’t see unibody SUVs. When you’re towing over 6-7000 lbs you are much better off in a BOF vehicle and that’s overwhelmingly what people use. I would tow a race car or a couple jet skis behind a unibody SUV no problem but not any serious load.

Did you seriously just compare a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a Porsche Cayenne?

If I was rich I qould probably have one in the driveway.
With other cool stuff too, of course. 😃

what was the trailer weight being towed by the LX and Tundra?

Yes the load leveling helps on the 3rd gen tundra if you get the option otherwise have to add bags. I have the road active suspension on my 2.5 gen and honestly I’m not impressed. It still squats pretty low. I’m going to pull it off and throw my cradles and bags on. I want to weigh my load. I’m sure I’m at least 8k or more.
Like you mentioned the 3rd gen’s are selling well so I definitely don’t see Toyota changing the powertrain on it as long as it’s V6 TT is moving units.
Toyota historically used to make their trucks and some SUVs with the rear slightly jacked or elevated…so when the truck was loaded the rear would level off, the 2nd gen Tundra was the first Toyota truck that did not do that and the squat was a little excessive when loaded. Toyota trucks that originate from Japan have higher payload capacities than the 2nd gen Tundra…T100 was around 2000lbs and Hilux is even higher compared to a North American Tacoma.

U-Haul trailer is 2100-2200lbs and my car weighs 3100lbs.
However my enclosed trailer is a lot heavier than 2k lbs. More than double that empty.
My Tundra came stock with a slight rake in the rear but I leveled the front end (2-2.5 inch lift) of my truck so it sits level front and back when unloaded which causes sag when towing a heavy trailer unless you have air bags. In the pic you posted I actually have roadactive suspension installed on my truck which is supposed to help reduce rear sag. I’m returning them because it doesn’t help as much as I hope and seem like it makes the truck ride more rough due to the stiffer suspension. I will eliminate all rear sag with air bags. My truck is a 1794 so it has all bells and whistles Toyota offered which reduces its payload.
This is pic of the road active suspension I have on the rear of my truck which in the pic.
Exactly. That’s really the litmus test. Also go to any horse show or event. Or RV park.
Yep or hop on an interstate and count what's towing what, lol. We have two of the largest arteries going right through Knoxville (I-40/I-75 merged together), people are towing boats all the time across the state/region/country. With trucks.... 95% of the time.
Also work sites, you don't see GLEs at construction sites lol.

Right and nobody is poo poo ing the GLE anyway... It's a really nice crossover.
Would I beat the shyt out of it like I do my LX570? Absolutely not. But it's not designed for that either...which is absolutely fine. Dude needs a chill pill.
It’s about having the right tool for the job. If I towed a trailer once a year I would be fine with a GLE or a GLS or even a Pacifica. If I towed a boat or stuff all the time I would only consider a BOF truck based vehicle.
Did you seriously just compare a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a Porsche Cayenne?
sure on basis of cargo room similarity, performance, and price. they’re obviously very different vehicles though. sorry you can’t handle such a comparison with facts.
You’re now lost to us lol.
there you go, speaking for ‘us’ to attempt to alienate the ‘one’ with your ‘lol’. you’re so transparent. “lol”
