The $159 would be worth one phone call to the NY dealer. "Hi, that alignment wasn't done properly I had to have it redone and pay again once I got home, happy to send you the printout but I would like a refund from you all for that incomplete alignment job" I say 70% chance he gets it.

Yeah I’m gonna call them in Rochester. I took it in and the alignment is off, they also had that new tech here.

I’ll deal with it after the weekend.

Quick back story. 2021 or 2022 Mercedes E class. Got a new tire day before Christmas in which also got an alignment. Fast forward to today, she’s getting her B service and dealer is wanting to charge an additional $700 on top of the B service due to extra cost for the alignment service that was just performed 2 weeks ago.

Your thoughts.

@AJT123 It really looks like you need some suspension work to your LX. How many miles are on it?

144k. It just needs a master tech to do it and this really expensive machine they probably didn't have or know how to use to "clear" the steering. This all sounds insane but my LC buddy I have owns a shop and knows these things as well as any mechanic. He builds them, drives nothing but 200s. The things people do with these off road are INSANE, and they don't get knocked out of alignment....

I don't see in what world light-moderate off roading and having lots of fun in 10 inches of snow would screw up any suspension part on a Land Cruiser. I have fun with it but I don't even come close to its capabilities. My buddy also said this.

If it did break a suspension part, it's junk and I'm done with Toyota trucks. Will immediately sell it and just drive the GMC.

Mercedes dealer gave her a EQS loaner that was 75% charged. She took it home, jumped in her TX, drove 200 miles for a bday party. Stayed for little over couple hrs, turned around and drove back home.

On her Mercedes, the B service is coming up which includes oil and filter changes, tire rotation and alignment (just got an alignment 2wks ago) when had to replace a tire. They are wanting to do another alignment for additional $700 on top of the B service to adjust the camber. The car has less than 30k miles. It’s 3 yrs old.

$700 for an alignment???? Well, maybe bc it's EV??

I made an appt here at Toyota on Tuesday, it's only $129 here for an alignment. It's weird that they couldn't get it up there, they tried 3xs. But they freely said that they NEVER see 200s and the Master Tech was gone bc it was Saturday. I'll get this all sorted out, it's a PITA though. BTW no visible damage underneath, no AHC trouble. Everything is flawless.

The reason they can't get it is because they are used to only doing cars with toe adjustments with static suspension. The LX has adjustable lower arms at the front and rear to set camber and it will effect toe as well, it needs to be done in sequence to make sure caster/camber are correct at the correct toe angle.

Same deal as a Q7/Cayenne/Touareg, most normal shops don't know how to do them. Lexus dealer doesn't have many trucks/complex suspensions come through anymore when the vast majority of their stuff is RX/TX etc that are all strut based. It's like asking them to correct caster on an LS, they can't or claim it's $1000 to move the subframe and shim it.

You would likely have a better time going to Toyota since they see a lot of tundras and 4Runners

No they have a Mercedes E 350. ‘21 or ‘22 model I think. Has las than 30k miles. Got an alignment befor Christmas because daughter hit a pothole had a blowout. Replaced the tire and got alignment at the dealership.

Fast forward to today getting the B service done which includes an alignment and for some they want an additional $700 to adjust the camber on the alignment that was just performed 2wks ago.

She needs to find an independent shop or a new dealer. Any dealer will warranty their alignment for 30 days. $700 is insane for an alignment even at a Mercedes dealer.

What city/state?
It is usually "an hour of labor" which here in a medium size Midwest city is $190
