General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 1
I don't know about that but as I mentioned in the Tesla thread, my old 22 Plaid went up over $2k per year after I had it two years and then I switched companies and it was a little under $1,000 a year and rose to $1,100 last year but once my son got his license, even though he will never drive my Plaid for obvious reasons, it want up to almost $1,600 a year. I just got my 25 Plaid and now the annual premium is $4,000 a year. I even priced it with Tesla insurance and it was $308 per month or $3,700 a year. Any new car usually starts higher and goes down but good god, I am paying $10,000 a year in insurance and for four cars and before my Tucson and my son driving, it was $2,500 a year.
Insurance companies don't reward you for staying with them, they just raise their premiums. For example, State farm raised my premium $1000. No tickets, no accidents, no claims. So I switched back to GEICO.
What you may want to do is bring your Bodily injury liability down to the state minimum. Most people are over insured in that area. I learned this from an insurance broker
One reason I don't want to lease another car, it jacks my premium way up.

My broker tried to get the premiums down every which way possible and some things they tried actually made it worse. What makes it even worse, I have never had a claim ever and my wife and I have never gotten a moving violation ticket ever (from the day I got my license to today). Any accident we have had my insurance hasn't been involved and doesn't know about since the two accidents I was in I made the other person call their insurance company on the spot and admit fault and they covered everything. I can't even imagine what it would be if I had a claim or points on my license.
My Honda will absolutely smoke the Supra except from a dig.
They set the cameras high like that for several reasons. First, to compensate for factory built-in speedometer-error in the vehicle. Second, to take account of the mod-obsessed owners who love to put oversized wheels/tires on their vehicles, causing the indicated-MPH on the speedometer to read low from fewer wheel-rotations. Third, to account for any gravity and downhill-effects causing vehicles to temporarily gain speed. And, fourth, to account for any errors or problems in the camera or sensor itself. So, in general, Steve is correct.....the camera will usually not snap a shot until you are doing at least 10-11 MPH over the official limit.
I don't know if they implemented them yet. But Google maps as well as Tesla's maps (and I'm sure Apple maps as well) warns you if there are speed cameras in the vicinity
A 90 roll is insane.

Yeah, my buddy got a ticket mailed to him three months after we returned from Germany. We were rolling into Weimar and he’s driving. We were going 100 km/h in a zone that dropped to 60 km/h. They tracked the HH plate back (most rental cars in Frankfurt have an HH plate for Hansestadt Hamburg with is the entry point for many cars imported to Germany) to EuroCars and then they identified my friend as the primary on the rental contract. The citation included a photo of his Chevy Chase looking mug behind the wheel. Busted 😂

Bayea's Type R is modded and tuned. You can get about 500 or 600 hp out of them, but off the line they have put the power down slowly because of 1) fwd and 2) just sitting there spinning the tires
Hello,
I own a 2007 RX400h with 107K miles. I am looking for a top mechanic near Brooklyn, NY familiar with the hybrid model to help me extend the life of this great car.
All suggestions are welcome.
thank you,
Michael

Beautiful day here today, 80 degrees. Did the spring wash on the S580. Cleaned all the wheel barrels and the wheel wells. Cleaned all the grills and honeycomb areas. Washed, clayed, sealed with Gyeon Wet Coat, went over everything with a quick detailer and did all the windows. I about killed myself lol.
Luckily I only do that once or twice a year.
