The X on this picture is where we lived for 2 years. This is beyond insane. Why could they not do controlled burns? They do that in the Smokey Mountains here all the time, and in Cade's Cove.
The poor pets, I can't even think about it. And I didn't even think about the looting that's going on. There's got to be jewelry etc in some places and abandoned houses.
This is a major disaster of epic proportions. Insurance companies about about to go broke, or have to use their own insurance.

Cali instituted price controls on insurance, so the companies simply left the state. A lot of these people can't get and don't have any insurance and that makes it so much worse....
The whole process of got them to where they are would delve into politics, so I'll refrain from going any further except to say it's an extremely mismanaged city that put it's priorities in the wrong place. It's litterally rotting from the ground up. I grew up there, and there is no amount of money you could pay me to move back
Hopefully you're safe in OC, which isn't mismanaged like LA 👍
thanks, brother. OC is safe for now. but the Santa Ana winds are relentless. these past couple of days have brought the strongest Santa Ana winds I've ever seen in my life here.
it only takes 1 ember to start a new fire in this situation with the winds blowing in different directions. I'm sure you've all seen the news. instead of saying "why they can't do controlled burns" just pray/hope for the best for these firefighters. 🙏🏼
back to cars - did you guys see the cars that were left on the road as people were trying to escape Pacific Palisades? some really nice cars had to be moved using a bulldozer

Trust me I know what you're thinking, I'll leave it at that.
Like I said, they do controlled burns here all the time in the Smokey Mountains.
We ultimately HATED Los Angeles but are soooo glad we did it regardless.
Holy crap AJ! I know you've mentioned you lived in LA for a while. You guys would be in some deep doo doo right now.
We were pretty close to the 101 which would have helped. Wish I would have LX570 because I'd be running over everything, cutting though yards, and ramming destroyed cars out of the way.. I'd rip that baby down to the frame getting out, total the hell out of it.

My wife moved from North Carolina (Cary NC) to LA after we got married, we lived in Culver City just across the street from West LA. She hated every single minute of LA. When we moved to Northern Cal for a job in 2001, she was so happy. I kid you not, she would divorce me in a minute if I decided to move back to LA. If I want to get her angry, I joke with her that we are moving back to LA after I retire, she doesn't even find that remotely humorous
