That’s the thing about convictions, it should be simple. It’s the definition of black and white. The only complicated thing is how you jump through hoops to explain away violating them when they aren’t easy to live by.
The decision between union Korean labor and non-union US labor should be simple. US workers who are not union voted not to be union, for the most part. Workers in the US are not subjugated or abused union or not. You can’t say that about workers in China…for instance.
Prioritizing US labor union or not should come first. I don’t care where things are made, but even for me if I am presented with a choice between two things I like equally I will choose the one built in the US.
Agreed 100%, if the US doesn't happen to make something I want then I'll buy from elsewhere but otherwise I normally buy from here. It's also nice in the case of boutique items because you can easily reach out to makers for various projects or support

...which is exactly what I did with the Encore GX. But I would NOT have bought it if it were made in China...and I would not have bought it from a Mexican or other overseas plant that was not unionized.
Anyhow, the main issue here is that, I've pretty much made up my mind, and will probably replace my current GX with another one, unless something major and unforeseen happens in the industry. I'd also like to see GM do a hybrid Encore GX, but corporate management stubbornly avoids hybrids....that's one area where IMO Toyota got it right..

I see what you're saying but would you consider your 50 mpg close to what a hybrid would get you?

That pretty dang good, IMO.
It's not just necessarily mileage that I like in a hybrid. The electric motor cuts down on the wear-and-tear of the gasoline engine.
I did a Car Chat thread a while back on the excellent highway mileage I get with that little gas-powered three-cylinder turbo...I showed the average MPG reading and accumulated-trip-mileage right off of the trip odometer.
It's an Encore GX, not an Encore. Totally different vehicle. And, yes, I get anywhere from 45 to 58 on a level Interstate in FWD mode with the A/C off, moderate cruise-speeds, and lightly loaded. EPA, in contrast, rates it around 30.

At what speed? That’s quite improvement over what it’s rated at. What’s the secret?
(encore GX, but) no. nor does 2025 according to buick and epa

any idea why 3 row suvs do not have the same deep well behind third row? is it that they're built with more under clearance height so there's no 'there there' to do it, or some other reason?

What you have is a "preference" not a "conviction".
I'd be willing to bet that's not actually true...it's the car you want and what you want is going to win out over your preference as to where and by whom it was built. That's true of most people. The reason people give you a hard time is you hold up your preferences and convictions and you take them so seriously...and then when you repeatedly discard them when they are no longer easy to live up to. It creates a funny funny many of us can't resist lol

Its the way the seating folds, most of them have seats that fold forward, minivans have seats that fold backwards into that well. Its also the molded floorpan of the crossover vs the flat floor of the minivan that necessitates that design. SOME crossovers do have that, the last gen Explorer as an example. have removable floors that create somewhat of a well, but then what do you do with the floor part?
not according to this engineer.
Lets put it this way, why don't manufacturers extend oil change and maintenance intervals on hybrids? Because there is not less wear.
They don't. My Sedona had the spare under the passenger side second row seat. Pacificas have them behind the trim panel on the left of the cargo area, or not at all. I haven't seen any minivans with the spare in that area.
