Do you have 2 piece rotors or something? Diameter? If not that's totally insane for soild type cast rotors of the size I would expect to see on a non performance S class......
Should be just under $700 for new rotors at all 4 corners. OE rotors are $196 each for the front, and $142 each for the rear. But soon enough the OEM rotors should be available for a little over half that, maybe $450 all around? I'm guessing the OEM is Vaico, as that's who made them for the W222. They also made the massive semi-2-piece rotors on our Q7.
Yeah your car 100% looks way better from the side....
Yep he said 17 inch and I was like "uh no, there is no way since I know no S class brakes as large as the S8" lol! 400-420mm class brakes are some of the largest period, only the lambo suv thing has larger afaik at 440mm for the CCBs and the only reason I know that is because they are a direct swap onto my D4 cars.
i still think mine's better looking but i'm biased.
You car is 100xs better looking than that, not EVEN CLOSE!!!!!! I don't care for that gen SL, like I said it seems like 3 different people designed the car and never talked to each other.
When I ordered brakes for my W222 OEM Mercedes rotors were ~ $1,000 all in. Not magical but if you want OEM parts that’s what they cost. Unless an aftermarket part is actually better I always use all OEM parts.

Ah makes sense lol!
At least you COULD use aftermarket, us 2 piece owners can pick from expensive and expensive from OE or "OEM" that is the same thing in a alternate box. That said it looks like you are well under $1000 all in for all brake rotors and pads for your car even with OE, on the plus side Mercedes actually has really nice stock pads/rotors unlike Lexus on the non-brembo cars.

I just looked them up on FCP Euro, $261.99 each for the fronts, $212.99 for the rear. So before shipping or tax that’s $949.96. I don’t think that’s “well below $1,000”
In contrast I would buy better than OEM rotors for the LS (because like you said the OEM ones are lousy) for about $300 total.

My next door neighbor has an SL63 like this except it's a dark red metallic color. It looks like this with top up and much better with it down. I agree, the Lexus looks better.

You can get it cheaper if you are willing to wait longer, best deal I could find was $170 shipped.
Yeah the LS rotors are cheaper sure but mostly just due to size, nothing really different past that.

Finally pried the keys out of my spouses hand to the GMC. I know I say there are lots and lots of Land Cruisers and LXs around, but the amount of Yukon Denalis is ridiculous.
It's literally the quintessential West Knoxville mobile. There are tons of the GM big boys but around my area I see Denalis the most, more than Escalades and I see a lot of those too.
Also, as much as I hate start/stop I found a use for it that I didn't mind earlier. We forgot something when the cleaner came so went back to the house, spouse went in. I left it in drive and the engine shut off. The temperature outside is mild today so it's fine, and for start/stop it's a pretty refined setup.... but I still disable it, I had just forgotten a little while ago. But it was fine for 4-5 minutes with the engine off and I didn't mind it either. In traffic is a different story.

Thats not the same part. My pricing was for the W222 rotors, that part number is 2224215100 and Parts Geek shows it as being $240, so the rotors for the 222 are a little more expensive
The point is...the brakes cost a lot more than the brakes on the LS, those rotors are like $50 each. My point was maintaining the S Class is more expensive than maintaining the LS, but it isn't crazy.

Ah, I defaulted to looking for your current car.
However yeah I don't disagree but you actually get more for the money vs the LS not even having good factory rotors...that are smaller etc. The LS frying it's brakes often makes you wonder what actually costs more for a given amount of miles
