General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2
They don't sell every Tahoe they can make for nothing.. they drive nice. All I'm saying. People apparently don't even care that the 5.3 is underpowered compared to the rest of the class.
The GM distaste is palpable in here.
Ummm I'd much rather have that Bentley than a Vette, I've said sports cars aren't even my thing.
But I don't like that Bentley axed the legendary 6.75L V8.

Lol most GM cars drive pretty well and there are some standouts.

Exactly..... and a 5.3 Suburban will haul a whole family and their gear well as well.
People like me, us, would have to have the 6.2 of course though.
MT just compared a Hurricane I6 RAM to GMC, the Ram absolutely smoked it, bad. But they were gushing over the sounds and feel of the 6.2 regardless... They called it "magnificent V8" in the "pro" column.

I try to remain objective as possible and call spades spades regardless.
Drove the BMW today for the first time in a week. Felt good to floor it on the freeway. Loving that tune.
I need to get the truck in for some brake work that I don't feel like doing myself. It's squeaking loud.

I have never once unless it was a CTS-V, Vette, 1LE, ZL1 etc ever done a bit longer of a test drive than needed as they are plain mauve to drive. Contrast that with a 328i I took around a second go to feel it out more....
Hondas as a whole drive WAY better, as much as I hate to admit it so do most ford equivalent offerings, GMs trucks are land barges that are roll tastic and juddery vs rivals. Go test drive an X7 or Q7 and you will understand
Thats not really apples to apples. If you compare the GM SUVs to say Ford Expeditions or Nissan Armadas or Jeep Wagoneers they drive really well. The X7 and Q7 and GLS obviously drive better on the road but they are very different.
I grew up in SoCal and only drove in snow in the mountains and that was in wide open parking lots practicing controlled slides for fun. It snowed a few times when I lived in Arlington, VA, but freezing rain or ice storms were more common and I just didn’t drive at all on those days. I was walking distance to two metro stops and I could walk a lot of the way to one of the stops indoors through the mall.
