General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2
It was slick aerodynamically for its time, not compared to modern cars as much. It was the most aerodynamic production sedan ever made when it came out. .25 with air suspension, .26 without. Considerably slicker than the LS500, actually which is .28.
For comparison my S580 is .22. My S560 was .24,

It's funny because it's such a tall car. This is where our eyes deceive us.

Yeah aero is a funny thing, my A8s LOOK worse than the 460 but they are, .21 in the case of the W12 when at speed and the suspension goes full low. The other A8 only goes to .23 since it doesn't have the sport suspension and can't drop as far, air/active suspensions have a huge edge being able to optimize for conditions without being stupid low and annoying to live with day to day.
That's an impressive top speed. I know half of the reason is bc the car is so slick aerodynamically, that advantage picks up more and more the faster you go... my GOD these old Lexus ads were the best commercials EVER.

Whats interesting is shape doesn’t always have to do with it. Take the i7 for instance, it’s a brick with a flat front but it’s .24

Agreed on the original guy's voice.
That lovely voice, and always in these commercials (or mostly) you hear the machinery that sounds very high tech and expensive that is showcasing the car. The ball commercial for the ES300 is another great example:

Spec sheet for the car, .24 is a base model at standard height. Sport is better and both shave .2 off at full low.
On your comment for CD for car.....sure but cars are nowhere as common as SUVs and those things are bricks in comparison.

Sport cars drop 20mm more than the base ones, I was however slightly off.....when at lowest it's .23 for a sport LWB version and .21 for an S8 from the shorter wheelbase. At normal height it's .26 for sport cars and .28 for normal ones, problem is some media says one set of numbers and other say something else to the point I'm not sure what version to screencap and send. I think I am going to ask my guy overseas to check his physical documents on what is claimed over there

This is what I mean about GM chassis tuning.... I could dig up a bunch more cars but I don't feel like it.

There's magic here in the way you feel connected to it and to the road beneath your tires. No other compact supersedan does it better.
The Caddy's magic sauce is its broad range of capability, as well as the finesse and nuance it brings to the everyday task of being exciting and rewarding to drive anytime, anywhere, on any road, at any speed.

This is literally how old BMWs used to drive. There are a bunch more GM cars that have that magic chassis tuning, I just don't feel like digging.
I never said an Escalade is a Lotus on the track but yes, GM's engineering and tuning expertise extends to that platform as well. That's a big reason they're so popular.
And no, it's not a luxury sedan...but does share traits of one. I said it drives quite well enough, and accelerates and stops with zero fuss like a luxury sedan. It's also quiet like a luxury car.

Yeah, like I said they have some excellent models. That doesn't mean that GM as a whole is known for world class chassis tuning, that just isn't the case. Modern BMWs still drive amazingly, you haven't driven any of them so you don't know but the way BMW can mitigate weight in their chassis is incredible. At the end of the day nobody buys that Cadillac...they buy BMWs
It has wheels and it transports people...so I suppose on some level that is true lol
