The M113 is just a beast of an engine. I love my 2UR but picturing it with another .5 of displacement and a supercharger? Just nuts.
it's just so suited for the heavy luxury applications it was installed in, you get the full 520+ ft lbs at barely over 2500 rpm, but i promise you in the very high rpms that 2UR is more exciting! above 5000 or so with the M113K the drama is just continued, as opposed to the way it still builds with the 2UR or its replacement the M156
also yea idk who says the bose audio isn't good, actually i remember that being basically the only highlight in several nissan products i've been in lol
It's an okay system, nothing wrong with it and for in car use it's entertaining/good.
Agree on the 2UR is more dramatic, the M113k feels almost like a 12 in how it just doesn't change character at all for the whole rpm band. Wall of thrust, every super V8 I've driven does a really good job of that. The Jag 4.2 and 5.0s also sound quite nice while doing it....
Thats the one thing I dislike about my turbo 8 even with how much power it makes, feels so indirect off boost and there is always that boost threshold of idle and lag at a roll.

Exactly. Plus the fanboys who have no idea what they are talking about
Lol it sounds better than the 19 speaker ML system in my LX.....

Again, I prefer the Bose stereo in the Mercedes over the 450w ML in my LX. And that's even with a bluetooth tape. It just thumps the hardest and gets really loud, simple as that. 2 woofer ports right behind my seat for whatever they call their bass thingy.
And their stuff isn't mediocre, the Bose and Sonos expensive soundbars are the best. I have the Bose one, but they say you can't go wrong with either.
I have the add on sub and surround sound and ATMOS truly is amazing... our bedroom is like a movie theater.

this is especially true if the intercooler pump is bad! but i'd say between 3000 and 5000 is "the good part"... what's so awesome about it though is there's no "off boost", the shove is just instantaneous and unrelenting even off idle, downside is you'll pretty much never get above 22 mpg even by totally babying it lol

There are reasons for that. For one ML systems generally aren’t great. Two, audio sounds much better in a small coupe than in a large SUV.
It also depends on what you classify as “good”. Bose systems are loud and thumpy, they aren’t clear and accurate. If you prefer loud and thumpy, you’re going to prefer the Bose. The ML is much clearer and has much less harmonic distortion. Personally I prefer the clearer truer sound to the loud and thumpy.
Bose stuff isn’t bad, it’s just always expensive and very average in quality. You pay a lot for the name. When you look at soundbar ratings for instance Bose is generally not at the top. Headphones too, Bose used to be the leader in noise cancelling and sound quality and that’s just not the case anymore. Notice in the article you posted, the only Bose system was chosen for Google cast support, not sound quality. The rest of the winners? No Bose.
Brand especially in car audio doesn’t really mean much. Most of the brands are all the same company anyways.

Yeah......soundbars suck, get a real center channel if you want to have the full experience. Bars are good for quick and easy but they don't have driver area or box displacement

I have a soundbar on my bedroom TV and it's good enough for that purpose. My living room TV has an actual 5.1 system though.

The ML in the LX and LS460 are known as amazing stereos, always have been. The LX has more spatial, surround sound. It's a more impressive system overall. But it just doesn't thump like the Bose.

And I like better bass, and I disagree that Bose sound isn't clean. I have had so many Bose devices and cars with them.

That wasn't my specific soundbar. I have the latest one, lol I've got $2500+ worth of Bose in my bedroom. Wouldn't have it any other way. Sonos I'm sure they're nice but I've never even heard of the brand. I'll go with Bose bc it's never disappointed me other than when other cars cheap out on the stereo budgets. The Enclave has Bose and it's terrible. However the Denali has a 16 speaker Bose (up market from the regular Yukon Bose stereos) and it gets so loud I haven't turned it up all the way. I had a Maxima with a kick *** Bose stereo. And these late 90s Mercedes had excellent Bose systems. W140s had a trey of 4 woofers in the back, and the Bose absolutely knocked in those as well. I remember putting a tape in (lol) an S500 and being blown away.

We’re off topic, but high end soundbars can be amazing. I have a $2,500 Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar in my basement and it’s amazing you truly do get surround sound and it’s full and rich, meets my needs completely.

Yeah they don’t thump, that’s not how they are designed. ML in the LS460 is known to be very good, and it is, but in all the other models including the LX it’s not that great.

It’s not a debate, the numbers are out there. ML systems have much lower total harmonic distortion than basically any other auto system. It’s they claim to fame.
Bose trades heavily on their name. I just have never been impressed and if you read audio reviews, reviewers aren’t either.

you’re making my point. You’re buying the Bose name, not the units that are much more highly rated for the same money. I prefer to buy what’s highly rated whatever name it is. Your own article you posted here rates all those soundbars better than Bose, but you’re still going to buy Bose.
Of all the cars I have had, this is how I would rate the audio systems that I really recall
1. Burmester 2024 S580
2. Nakamichi 1998 LS400
3. Mark Levinson 2017 LS460L
4. Mark Levinson 2004 LS430
5. Harmon Kardon 2023/2020 Chrysler Pacifica
6. Burmester 2020 S560
7. Standard Audio 2013 GS350
8. Standard Audio 2015 LS460
9. Mark Levinson 2003 ES300
10. Mark Levinson 2003 ES300
