General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2
No kidding. i’ve driven from Memphis to Atlanta plenty of times. The flow of traffic in North Mississippi is 90 mph.

good luck driving slow on the interstates in florida.

LA was a nightmare but everyone knew how to drive for the most part, when you could get past 10MPH.
so if i'm doing 80-85 in a 70 interstate speed limit and someone comes RIGHT UP to my bumper, i should pull over. what they're doing isn't legal on multiple fronts. so i'm not going to respond to their 'pressure' as you would call it. i will get over because i don't need to 'engage' with JERKS, but i may just slow down first which sometimes puts the pressure back on them to slow the f down and back off. but you do you and i'll do me...
You thinking somebody else is a jerk and feeling that its your place to slow down and punish them for their behavior is wrong, its aggressive driving, asking for road rage and it makes the roadways more dangerous for everyone.
Yes, you should move over. Its not your job to enforce the law, and if a police officer observed you not moving over, they would stop you and cite you. Refusing to cede the left lane to a faster driver is against the law. Full stop.

you make it sound like i'm acting as some kind of highway cop. this is not a regular occurrence by any means (i mostly drive in the middle lane for one thing) and as i said, i do get over, but i really don't care what you say, i'm not going to be bullied to immediately respond because some JERK is RIGHT in my rear bumper.

thanks for the laugh.

Someone else breaking the law doesn't give you the right to break the law. The law is for law enforcement to enforce, not you. I'm usually one of the faster drivers on the road, but when someone comes up behind me I immediately yield the left lane.
This is all about ego. If people would set their egos aside when they drive the roads would be way better off.

I think you guys are right because the more I thought about it, it's changed here over the years.
People fly down the interstates here going 90 all the time. Atlanta is 85 or bust, and ESPECIALLY I95 in South Florida.
What I meant was when lights turn green, sometimes it takes a sec to get moving or it used to.
