wise words, point of view.

I drive slow or normal 95% of the time. I may gun my cars but I don't leave them at high speeds, I drive the speed limit.

Sometimes I let them loose though, they all get Italian tuneups regularly.

Another characteristic of the left lane bandit is, when I pass them, they speed up and drive in my blind spot for a while. I am not sure if they are deliberately being annoying (if so, it’s effective) or if they are just that clueless. It’s probably healthier to assume incompetence over malicicious intent though

That behavior is wrong. You should yield the left lane to the faster driver regardless of what your ego wants you to do. That attitude is the problem, you’re prioritizing how you want to use the lane, not the way the lane is legally to be used.

they do on the autobahn in germany.
i remember driving on it and seeing pinpoints of flashing lights in my rear view mirror and i thought, what the hell, only to have that car right on my *** a couple of seconds later (despite the fact i was going over 100mph). a lesson learned.
Totally, but unfortunately not here.

Another thing, I don't like when I have to speed up a lot to pass someone bc a cop would clearly see me. I would explain to him/her that I was speeding to pass someone because there were cars behind me, but I just don't want to be pulled over and have to deal with it.

What irks me the most are people on the left lane who you let pass, then the moment they pass you they slow down and hold onto the left lane.

When I said people are way better drivers in the north a page or two back I feel like someone got offended?? If so, why?

I don’t know if anyone got offended? But I would like to know what evidence you have to back that claim up? There’s bad drivers everywhere. But everyone always thinks their city has the worst drivers.

imo there's bad drivers where people are oblivious and hold you up, where they'll drive right up to the next car but then just chill next to it for miles and miles blocking the road ahead... and there's bad drivers where people are overly aggressive and drive like an a-hole

i much prefer the latter! here in new yoiik it tends to be the aggressive kind and i'd much rather be cut off than held up... when i was in college at UMass amherst it was the slowpoke has nowhere to be type you'd always get which i have very little patience for, luckily my car (even the LS) was way faster than the average 4-banger you'd find driving around the western MA countryside and i'd typically have no trouble getting past at the earliest opportunity haha

that's largely my style, 99% of the time totally casual and the other 1% is driving that would leave most shocked and appalled lmao... if the oil is still cold then i'm probably holding people up i'm still taking things so gently at that point

i also never give it serious beans if there's not space to coast it out afterword, by my definition having to slam on the brakes means you went too fast

Yeah, they didn't actually want to go any faster. They just needed to be first. This happens very frequently here.

Things move slower in the South, you'd have to live here to truly get what I'm saying.

People up north in fast moving cities drive much better, in my experience.

LA was a nightmare but everyone knew how to drive for the most part, when you could get past 10MPH.

Agreed. I also wait for my oil to warm before gunning it. It takes a little longer than coolant.

All of the above posts are why I only enjoy driving my car early Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I just kinda go with the flow. It just becomes pointless to fight traffic as you are bound for some sort of slowdown at some point.
Everyday on the way home there's always a few idiots that speed. You know what happens? We all end up at the same traffic light within a car length of each other. Was driving like an outlaw really worth it?

I was astonished how fast people drove in Alabama, and in Georgia especially around Atlanta. The flow of traffic was ~ 100MPH, way faster than anywhere up north I have driven.

This was from my drive from the Atlanta airport to Anniston, AL....I was being passed regularly

I’m proud of you🥹 Sometimes you have to air it out.
