Ford is known for patenting all kinds of wild and sometimes awful ideas and never using them. Maybe there's some hero inside FMC using their resources to keep bad ideas away from the other manufacturers to protect us lol.
Exaclty! Ford recently patented a system that allows drivers to drive while standing up through the roof! Like on a Bronco.
Yeah with 15 inch 65 series tires. You are so right
All else equal, wheels and tires like that at least give you Lexus ride-comfort. 20-inch, 40 and 45-series tires, which are found on today's LS500, (usually) don't.

I have found that low profile tires ride fine, it's the impacts that are the issue.
That said, I think I have 45 series tires on my LS430 and you don't feel a thing going over bumps.

Depends on the suspension tech used, my 20 inch rim cars ride better than anything else I've had and they handle leagues better.

That's why I said all else equal. A few vehicles I have test-driven with 45s (and even an older-generation BMW 335i with 35-series Sport-Package tires) have had a smooth ride by my standards...but not many. As a rule, with a few exceptions, I have generally not been impressed with the ride comfort of anything below a 50.
That is why, when I will (most likely) replace my current Encore GX with another GX, the Avenir trim-version is ruled out.....45s are standard, and no way to get around them. It will be a choice between the Preferred and ST trim levels, with their 18" 55-series rubber.

When Lexus built its final LS with 15 inch tires, there were still only three major national TV networks (ABC, NBC, and CBS) that had daily broadcasts. Fox had yet to add programming on Wednesday.
