Going to a "dumb" phone over a Smartphone in this world requires a lot of sacrifice of technology and convenience, because more and more the world is revolving around the concept that everybody has a smartphone, and thats only going to grow. For example, in Disney you can't operate easily without one. You need it to effectively book rides and experiences and dining etc. Going to Disney without a smartphone would be very difficult and would result in simply having to stand in lines that are hours long. More and more carmakers for instance are relying on digital keys within your smartphone to be able to drive you car, and you're finding more companies delivering cars with only one key since people are going to be using their phones. Our system at my company for entering expenses and reimbursing ourselves for things requires a smartphone.
You're going to find more and more that physical credit cards aren't going to function and you will need the smart wallet within your smartphone.
You will always have fringe fashion, like this nostalgia drive that the article you posted talks about that makes flip phones cool because they feel "vintage", but that will only catch on so much because of the massive difficulty not having a smartphone creates.
Progress moves forwards, not backwards. I can't think of any area of society where once technology moved forward all of a sudden everybody said "you know what, I like it better the way it was decades ago" and have consumers choose en masse to go back. Vinyl records are a good example of this, many audiophiles like vinyl records, and vinyl sales have really increased dramatically over the last few years. BUT, you're not going to see society go back to vinyl records as being the most common way people consume music. Its a niche, and streaming music is in no danger of being replaced.

speaking of tech, now that i pay the majority of in person charges with my WATCH i think i'm going to just leave one card in my wallet for the luddite merchant than doesn't do tap and pay.
i was just in europe and never used a card once and didn't convert any currency.

I love a fancy wallet and have a few but this is just so much easier and better.

I got to use a CC machine the old fashioned way at the doctor's office the other day, the good ole' horizontal swipe. My CC is metal so it was realllllly satisfying......
Apple Pay gets on my nerves because it makes me look at my face before it goes through. I have hats on alot, etc. It holds me up a little sometimes.
Neat!!! Wonder if you can do that here.. probably.

Very few places where you even can swipe cards with a chip anymore lol.
You can turn off the Face ID for Apple Pay
Also, both my Tesla and Polestar use digital keys, which is way more convenient. If my phone ever breaks, I have a key card for the Tesla in my wallet, and a fob for the Polestar.
No way I could ever go back to dumb phones
Very, very similar to this:
There is a rubber like material that keeps all your CCs snug. I've never had my ID or AMEX fall out. This is the best purchase ever.
Oh and I misspoke earlier.... I got to swipe the card vertically (not horizontally), which is the true old school way. It felt great lol.
The reason why I have never been able to use a case like that is it keeps me from using wireless charging. I charge almost 100% wireless, the only time the phone is plugged in is when I'm driving the S560, because it doesn't have wireless Carplay. My wife always used a case like that and finally went to a magsafe wallet case so she could use wireless charging too.
