Same here, I can make and receive calls from my Samsung Gear S3, although I turned that function off. I can also read my text messages, Whatsapp and email while my phone is in my pocket

I fully believe smartphones are a big part of the reason half of America is on Xanax or Ativan.

Dude, kids were on Xanax long before even mobile phones were created. I went to Highschool in the 1980's (graduated in 1986), and half the school was on Xanax or similar drugs 😂

Now having smart phones in the hands of young people is both good and bad, like any technology. Young children should 100 percent not be given smartphones IMO, but that said, I would never want to go back to a flip phone.

BTW, I've never used Xanax or any other drug in my life any stronger than Ibuprofen, and I've had one type of smartphone or another going back to the Blackberry days

I finished in 85.
In 88, I did take Xanax, but not good at all - made me screw my exams.

In 92, I purchased the NEC P5 analogue over the big thick Motorola Dynatac analogue.
In 96, I moved to Ericsson GH388 digital.
In 98, I could not handle the Ericsson GH788 1-line flip, so had the Motorola StarTac flip for only 1-day because I could not handle to poor plastic build quality - before I went to Ericsson GH688.
By 2000, I shifted to Nokia 8210 credit card sized phone.
By 2004, I went to HTC O2 XDA II Mini 2.8" PPC-Phone.
By 2006, I went to HTC Dopod 810 PPC-Phone with 3G.
By 2008, I went to HTC Touch HD 3.7" PPC-Phone.
2010, went to HTC Touch HD II 4.0".
2013 Nokia 820 5.0" WindowsPhone OS.
2015 Nokia 1520 6.0" WindowPhone OS.
2018 Samsung Galaxy S8+ Android OS.
2021 Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 6.7" Android OS.

IMO, if you can control yourself, then smart phone is okay.
Else, we must go back to dumb phones...

That's quite a memory. All I remember is owning Nokia's until the mid-2000's when I switched to BB. Then in 2010 I bought the first Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy S 3, short time with Motorola (when Google owned them), PIxel, and last three phones have been OnePlus

I loved my Windows phone. The 1st one I got was a gift from Microsoft at a Summit in Redmond.

LOL, in the minds of some boomers maybe. I have seen no evidence of any such push.

Xanax was new then FDA approved in 1982, are you saying kids were doing it recreationally or all had prescriptions?? Back then you could get the good stuff easily just from your regular doc, must have been nice.

Looks like it doesn't affect you and that's good. I just can't ever put my phone down and neither can anyone else. When we were in LA our doctor told me virtually all of his patients were on Benzos, that's how crazy it is out there with the stress. Just going out to get milk or something was very stressful it's so hectic there.

Xanax is a miracle drug but like pain pills they're gonna be much harder to get as time goes on.

Most were prescribed. I'm sure there was some recreational users. Lots of shroom and other drug use that was recreational. I would say a large population of Angelinos are on some drug or another. Thankfully I never really had interest in artificial stimulation

good for you and same for me.

but whether legal or illegal, drugs are marketed and pushed and people are subject to peer pressure "oh everyone's doing it"... quite sad.

People who aren’t pressured into anything usually have the last laugh.
