I am seriously consider buying a good quality radar detector for my vehicle. Any members have any thoughts or suggestions as to brand or model preference? Any other technology out there to avoid unnecessary speeding tickets.

Cheers!
First, as for detectors, it depends on where you are.....your avitar does not include a location. The use of detectors is illegal in Virginia and D.C....you can have one in your vehicle, but it MUST be turned off. State Troopers and some local police have electronic "Detector-Detectors" where they know if you are using one or not...and they can legally stop you and impound the device. The state also uses several other non-radar devices to enforce speed laws, so detectors alone are not always effective.
Second, you ask about technology. The best defense against speeding tickets always has been, and always will be, a lighter touch of your right foot.
the Valentine One is the ONLY recommendation i can give someone... they make the V1 gen 2 now but as far as i can tell it's just an evolution of the original
it tells you the type of radar (very important as police tend to use KA band), the direction of signal, the number of signals, and the signal strength... if there's a complaint people have it's that it performs too well and is constantly beeping lol, but i've always just kept mine on mute since i can just take a quick glance over and be good
waze is a good supplement to the V1 but from my experience definitely not a replacement... and with waze there's no way to tell if you've been lasered, whether the cop is just chilling there or actually has their radar on, etc...
Radenso is the undisputed leader, combine with ALP and a light changer and you have a good setup. They have ability to detect detectors and with ALP have defeat to gun laser jamming as well as ability to counter pop detection and will catch reflections 4 turns away.
That's their basic one, it's enough to allow proper use of a good car. You need ALP to really go nuts though, the most effective combo is having a lead car for the main pack however....that way the highway patrol chases that one and leaves everyone else alone.

Valentine One has saved me thousands over the years in my cars and on my bikes. I use it on full logic mode L. Most revenuers use Ka band but some still use K band. Great unit for the cost of maybe one and one half speeding tickets.

So if you get a Waze alert that there's police reported ahead, and you don't get an alert on your detector, you don't slow down and just blow by? Best of luck to you....

lol that's not what i meant... i'm only saying that i see measurable value in having live updates from a physical instrument, without relying on someone already having driven past a cop and then reporting them

Agreed. I've had plenty of Waze false alerts anyways. I used to stick to the Valentine One but it just doesn't filter out false alarms well enough for me. I don't use them very often, but I have both a Escort Redline 360c and a Radenso Pro M currently and they're both fantastic. The Radenso is excellent for forward facing radar and I like it best because it's the quietest. The radar filtering is top notch while still performing comparably to the others.

when that valentine tells you you've been "lasered" it might just as well put "get ready to pay up" in the display instead.

lolll pretty much
when i was up in massachusetts at school i got pulled over (no ticket so we can laugh about it) and the cop noticed the V1 and was asking about it... he was a bit of a car guy too and said he had 'a hemi' at home so he was curious about the V1
he's like but that can't detect lidar, i'm like oh it actually can... so he walks back to his car and gets his lidar gun lmao... sure enough the V1 goes off when he fires the beam and he thanked me for the field test
either way i still would rather know than not know
