In order to have better stopping control in the snow. Not that you would know much about that in Florida.

I live in Ontario and regen works perfectly fine in winter. The Regen on Tesla's is just about perfect once you know how to modulate the pedal - which doesn't take more than a few drives.

That's why it would be nice to have the option, which they once had. I've been driving in snow for over 40 years. My reflex action to sliding is to release the pedal and let the vehicle initially coast while steering into the slide. That option doesn't exist with regen, albeit reduced in colder weather.

Thanks! This is the kind of information I need that's why I asked the question here, to know exactly what to look for when we do our test drive.

Bit, I was actually hoping you'd chime in and share what it's like with the Ioniq5. Instead you chose to be the usual a**hole with your condescending comment. I don't ask you $ to pay for our car nor charge you for brake pad replacement. We drive our car the way we want to drive our car.

You're welcome. I can tell you that Tesla implements OPD really well. Once you get used to it, you won't want to go back, at least I don't. But as I mentioned earlier, test drive all the cars you are interested in so you know which one will fit best

okie dokie then.

in the ioniq 5 you can select levels 0,1,2,3,I-pedal for the regenerative braking. 0 will be just right for you it sounds like.

Bowser in addition to the levels mentioned above, there is an auto regen setting that has some logic built into it, plus the IONIQ will actually use regen first if you hit the brakes lightly vs engaging the brakes. Saves brake wear and slows the car similarly.

I think I recall seeing a video that mentioned a setting to turn regen off at highway speeds but haven’t gone looking for it.

i thought 0 was no regen? plus i think the auto setting will do less/no regen if there's no one ahead so car realizes it can coast?

what do you normally use by the way? i leave mine on 3. that doesn't come to a complete stop, but i find the i-pedal (which will) too aggressive. i think tesla's no setting works very intuitively and well.
when using 3, i'll use the left paddle to slow the car more and that will go all the way to stopped and the car will stay stopped after releasing the paddle.

Regen is never really completely off, it's just not used while coasting, but as Dave mentioned, it will use regen when hitting the brakes lightly. With Tesla, it's now 'always on', but it doesn't jerk you around like it did in the past. Whenever I drove the Polestar, I set it on full regen, and when I drive the Ioniq, I also set it on "4" as I'm now used to OPD
