2023 Ioniq 5 SEL AWD
If it wasn't for our local Hyundai dealer acting like a stealership, we would own it instead of the Y. That's not saying we don't love our Y, though. It's just the whole process of getting an emailed price and then going in and finding out they made a $5k "mistake". I don't plan to ever go back to a dealer until they change their sales model.
I understand. I did say we loved our Y. Looking back, I'm actually glad it didn't work out. I think the Y is a better vehicle, all things considered.
I'm not going to let a dealership rip me off because I love a car. Which is why in hindsight, I would have just returned our 2020 and moved on
Not going to let a dealer rip me off either. You don’t have to let a dealer rip you off to get the car you want. Just leave and go to another dealer. Lots of dealers.
Had I not gotten what I wanted on the Pacifica I would have walked out, straight up. 4 hours there or not. Dealers sense that. You also don’t deal with games like that as much with luxury dealers.

It seems like they turned the car in vs trading it in? I always trade them in that way there are no surprises.
Example, they told me $3k off the car and $31k for the trade. In the end they only gave me $30k for the trade even though in writing they offered me $31k, but the payment on the new one is the same so they found the $1k somewhere else. I COULD say they screwed me on the trade but they didn’t because the overall deal is the deal I wanted.
That's one of the ways they got me. Instead of trading it, they turned it in. Also they financed the lease through US Bank knowing that Hyundai Finance would not give me credit for getting into another lease. They told me straight in my face that everything was ok, I didn't owe a penny, than acted surprised when I got billed. Pure scum

If that’s the case you just have to look at the cost for the lease fees you were charged and figure out if you are still ahead with the lease deal you got from them. If you are, then it’s still a good deal.
But that doesn’t benefit them. That may be why the lease they were offering you was so much lower than anything else, the other stuff from other dealers had negative equity rolled in. It doesn’t benefit them to turn the lease in vs trade it in, trading it in gives them another car to sell and make more profit, when they turn it in they have to just give it back to Hyundai.

Right now it's in the hands of a DMV investigator (a defective from the California highway patrol). She told me if she sees any laws broken, the dealership can be criminally charged. Luckily I have an email trail with the sales guy telling me in writing that I can get out of my lease early. Which is why I negotiate through email
Well, that's easy. My wife had scraped the side of the car on our backyard fence. I didn't get it fixed because the Wear and Tear policy I bought was supposed to cover that (up to $5K). Unfortunately I've tried to file a claim with them, but I can't get through to them. I tried all last week and I was sitting in the queue for an hour before I would give up, which is probably their strategy so you give up filing a claim

Some good news! The General Manager for Capital Hyundai called me, they are going to cut me a check for the amount owed to Hyundai Finance! It only took 100 calls and emails, and filing a complaint with the DMV Investigation Division LoL
EDIT
BTW, he admitted to me that the sales people were not being completely truthful, and fully didn't understand the process. He said they are going to get additional training
