Lucid to Power Aston Martin's Future EVs
https://www.engadget.com/lucid-will-...101040684.html
Aston Martin plans to build "ultra-luxury high-performance" EVs using Lucid's electric motors, batteries and other technology, Lucid announced in a press release. It's the first deal for Lucid to supply parts to other automakers — much like Rimac, which itself developed batteries and other components for Aston Martin, along with Koenigsegg and others. Lucid recently released its own debut electric car, the Air, in multiple versions starting at around $87,400. |
Not something I could have predicted no wonder Lucid stock is up in pre-market. Maybe this is a path for Lucid to survive long term but I wonder about their factory designed to make cars don't think they need such a large factory to only make components.
Lucid needs the Gravity (SUV) asap. |
This was always in the cards for them. They provide the batteries and components for Formula E racing. They have talked about licensing out batteries and more to manufacturers for a few years now actually. Nice to see that is finally starting to happen for them.

How does this help Lucid? It’s not like Aston Martin sells a ton of cars. I would feel much better if they licensed their tech to a larger volume manufacturer. It is a start though so good for them.

Aston Martin sells about 15,000 a year, I think. Helps Lucid sell more hardware since they appear to have excess but agreed doesn't move the needle much. Lucid SUV will make or break the company.

Maybe they could sell to Toyota/Lexus, they could use the help based on the EVs they are selling. Kidding of course.
Lucid has (or had?) big plans for grid storage https://www.dailylucid.com/posts/ene...motors-by-2030 |

I don't believe I have seen a Lucid out in the wild yet.
|
I've seen 2 one black which was nice and 1 in that maroon color...not my cup of tea, but the car itself has some presence to it

They should do whatever it takes to survive. As far as Aston. This is a nice move.
FYI: The Saudi money is never going to dry up. Saudi, money is everywhere. |
