Saw this Toyota Mirai parked this evening in Anaheim. I don't think I've seen anything like this before in my life. I'm guessing this person is not happy with their Toyota Mirai....
My question to this person is, how much did painting this statement cost you? LoL 🤣
That's taking the disgruntled owner thing to another level. I wonder what's wrong with it? In fairness to Toyota dealers not many Mira's out there most techs will have no clue what to do with one that needs work.
Interesting Fuel Cell. Looks like Toyota or Japan still working to make Hydrogen fuel more affordable. I dont see any reason to get it now unless you are a Hydrogen fuel support or a super Toyota fan.......
"How far can a Toyota Mirai go on a tank of hydrogen? The new 2022 Toyota Mirai XLE will deliver an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 402 miles and the 2022 Toyota Mirai Limited will offer a range of up to 357 miles"
"Hydrogen fuel is much more efficient than gasoline, but it's also four times more expensive, roughly equivalent to about $16 a gallon"
"Since the Mirai holds an average of 5 kilograms, you would be paying around $80"
We were observing a memorial last night for my dad's passing last month, this car is owned by one of the guests who attended. Found out today who the owner is, I'm going to have my brother send a message to him to contact me. I just want to know why?? I don't think that was painted on, but it had to be expensive.
That's just to funny. Like how bad could it be that you would go through all that trouble 😵💫
I had a first generation Mirai and it and the second gen Mirai are excellent cars. My first gen was basically free. The free H2 allowance was greater than my total cost, servicing was free, it came with free Toyota rentals and it got me in the car pool lane here in Silicon Valley - and I would have happily paid the amount I was paying for the Mirai for car pool access in any vehicle if I could at the time. So financially it was an unbelievable deal and the car itself was great.
The problem isn't the car or Toyota, the problem is the H2 infrastructure. Even here, supply has had issues and there's a reliance on two or three companies who build out and operate the stations. One in particular is particularly problematic, and there have been massive increases in the cost of H2 whereas the intent was for it dramatically drop. At current prices, the free fuel cards don't last nearly as long as they once did, and if you are paying out of pocket for H2 right now you're paying a lot more than most owners had ever expected. it's more than doubled from when I was using it.
I've no idea what this guy's issues are, but I'd bet they are more likely connected to infrastructure than the car. The Mirai's are built in Japan, with much of the build being done by hand, at the same factory that built the LFA. They're very well built. The challenge is the H2 future that was envisioned isn't panning out and the window for the technology to gain a foothold and cement its place in the market is rapidly closing. Great car, poor infrastructure execution.
^ Thanks for sharing your experiences! Are current H2 prices similar with normal gas or is there still some 'value' there?
The value is basically gone at the minute - it's knocking on the door of $30 per kilo at the minute, the tanks hold about 5kg of H2 and you get about 400 miles of range on the current Mirai (less with the Limited due to more equipment and bigger wheels/tires). It was under $13 when I had mine. The older Mirai gets lower range but still has a 5kg fill up so they are even more expensive to run than the new ones.
I don’t care how much I hated a car manufacturer/company, I would never bring that much attention to me. I would probably just blast them online instead.

Same here I even took my school frame off shortly after graduation. I don’t want any attention when out in the wild. Lol There are so many ways to get his issues resolved but he chose this. If all fails, I would just sell the damn thing and get something else.

I had issues with one of our cars. The master techs couldn’t figure out what to do. They video called the corporate to troubleshoot and were able to fix it. Something is off here.
