I detect sarcasm 😔. I think you know by now I'm willing to criticize Tesla if I think something doesn't work properly. In this case, I have only praise for them.

As far as HUD's, I think they are absolutely cool, and I wish Tesla offered them as an option. Even the new Prius has one. But Tesla doesn't offer them, and I can absolutely live with that. Talking to my close family friend who is an Engineer (EE), who designs virtual reality equipment (Oculus), they are complicated and expensive, so I understand why Tesla skipped on them.

Tesla's goal is to have a smart, fully self driving car, and this IMO brings them a step closer

now if the car had that display (or alerts from the analysis) in a heads up display or gauges in direct line of view, imo, it could be more helpful.
For anyone that doesn't own a Tesla, it could distracting. Once you've had it for a while, you learn to tune out the "noise"

I fully expected the Highland to have HUD. C'mon, Tesla is a tech company. I'm still buying one. Sheesh. What's a poor boy to do?

My question is, why? It can't be that hard. The market calls Teslas luxury cars. They already have all the numbers on the screen, right? You can already configure the screen, right?
It would make a difference to prospective buyers.
I don't get it. Elon is wack but he cain't be that wack... Ha!

Just my thoughts...it adds unnecessary complexity and future expense. Right now the two most expensive (and complex) components on a Tesla are battery pack and infotainment screen. Now you you are adding a third, hardware for the HUD.

It would probably make more sense adding a HUD option on the Model S and X, but not 3 and Y. Just my 2cents

Wack is removing the wiper, lights and gear stalks. Plus no plans of HUD - FSD one day working is the only reason I can think of.

if there's one brand that should embrace HUD but doesn't it's Tesla. It's the best way to keep the interior minimal, if that's what Tesla want, while enabling the presentation of helpful information - be that speed, warnings, directions or whatever - in the driver's field of vision. If there's a HUD available I always specify it, we have HUD on a few of our vehicles. Absolutely love it, and I think the failure to offer it is a significant miss on Tesla's part.

Today I let my coworker drive my Model Y, and he was blown away. He owns a 911 and mainly daily drives a Prius. Sent him a referral link so he can take his wife for a test drive!

nice. he deserves a medal for daily suffering in a prius the new prius though seems to be an improvement.

had he ever driven an EV? i think anyone who drives an EV for the first time is likely to be blown away because the feel, response, and lack of noise is so different. my first time i wasn't blown away because i'd watched so many videos on it, but i did enjoy it!

4 years and almost 100k km later I'm still blown away and experience the same amazing feeling every time I drive mine.

It's definitely NOT a fleeting/novelty sensation for me . 👍😁
