Back from a long road trip in the Y you guys must drive like maniacs I got slightly less (5-8miles) than the EPA rated range. 65-ish on flat terrain and through the mountains. Weather was mostly mild so not much A/C use. Car is a beast through the mountains steep grades are irrelevant to the car.
What is interesting is that on my Model 3 rental I get much closer to EPA rated range. Not so much with my Plaid, it’s not even close. I feel like my Model 3 base would probably get the same range as my Plaid.

I don't think it is possible to drive the Plaid sensibly.
Over the last few days, I've been logging the energy usage of the Y in different conditions...cool or "normal" conditions and hot conditions with heavy AC usage. To do this, over 3 days I logged my morning commute, which is when the temps are cooler (mid to upper 60's) and there is no AC usage, and daytime and evening when temps have been in the upper 80's and 90's. This is over a total of 70 miles of driving, a combination of freeway and some non freeway. Here are the results:
Morning commute, no AC usage: 22 kWh per 100 miles average
Afternoon/evening commute, heavy AC usage: 27 kWh per 100 miles average
On hot days when the AC has to work hard to not only cool the cabin, but the battery pack, I'm losing about 5 kWh every 100 miles of driving. From a monetary viewpoint, if 1 kWh of electricity costs 0.22 cents, than I'm losing $1.10 cents every 100 miles. From an efficiency standpoint, I'm still well above 100 MPG, as I've stated this many times, a gallon of gas contains 33.7 kWh of energy. So hot temps and AC usage does need to be factored in to owning an EV, but it's really so negligible that I don't even notice it. Pretty much the same way I never noticed if I burned 5 gallons or 6 gallons when driving my IS350 or our Sienna
The Model Y LR is the Tesla to buy. Having said that, Highland Performance here I come!
I am actually thinking about selling the RX and getting the Y. Dunno...
I have seen these in the Kia/Hyundai cars and think it is a great solution. Do you feel you use it often and have you relied solely on that or do you still do the shoulder check? The one thing I do like is my BMW has a bright orange triangle on the side view mirror so at a quick glance I can see that when moving over but I still don't trust that fully and still look over my shoulder. My Lexus' had something similar on the side view mirror but it was more of a diagram of a car but it was so faint that it was hard to see.
(sorry for delayed reply i missed your post before). yes, i rely solely on the gauge display because it's so clear and wide angle enough. if i somehow didn't see a car there, like yours i have red triangles in my mirrors, PLUS the car will beep like crazy if i did try to move into the lane and there was someone in it. i'm not sure but the car might even prevent me from doing it...
@bitkahuna I'm sitting in my Y right now, it's mid day, 100 degrees F and the sun is directly overhead, and I don't feel hot at all. Touching the glass roof, it's certainly warm, but not that hot where it burns my hand. IMO, a roof cover is not needed. It would be more beneficial if your car is parked all day in the blazing sun, but precooling takes care of that aspect

It does, it's a subtle pull on the wheel that can easily be overridden with more torque to the wheel. Its the same system in my car as well. And I also use the cameras all the time and probably won't buy a car without them. The mirror and camera literally cover everything on the side of the car, it's so well done. And the placement in the instrument cluster directly in front of you is key for me. I actually hate driving cars without it now. Yes, lazy 1st world problems where I don't like turning my head to look now. Teslas side cameras are decent too, but think the angle is too blown out or something. Just not as accurate as the ones used in h/k/g cars and for obvious reasons the screen isn't in an optimal position since it has to be displayed in the center screen.
No tax, shipping is $31, but they have a $40 off code you use at checkout. You have to manually input the code and apply it
Oh those are wheel covers. I thought they were replacement wheels for 300 bucks. Lol. Was going to say those are mighty cheap and will probably bend just rolling out of your driveway. Lol..
