AMIRZA what i'll be interested in is your 'real world' range.
Real world range in my MYP is somewhere in the low 200ish mile range on the highway (75-85 mph non stop). There are a few reasons it's hard to know real world figures around town:
- You're not supposed to keep the car charged at 100%, so I keep my limit at 80% each night. Typical driving around town for us is probably around 50-60 miles/day of mixed highway and stop and go. I tend to come home in the 60% to 65% range. So somewhere around 280-310 mile range I assume.
- You get into the habit of charging the car each night, so you'd never run it down to single digits unless you just really want to know real world range (I don't care because I'll never drive 250-300 miles around town in a day)
- I don't know if the battery loses life in a linear fashion (from 100% to 80% vs from 80% going down to 60%) because I never charge the car to 100%

Well, you can shave off 30 miles of range with my driving style . I charge normally to 90 percent, so real world range will probably be around 280 miles. I'll know more as I drive it over the next few weeks. Next month I'll be heading back to SoCal with the family for a memorial for my dad, so I'll get more of an idea of range. I'm betting I'll only need one stop to charge for the 390 mile drive.
An interesting thing to point out is my Polestar has a 78 kWh battery, base power (without the power upgrade) is 408 hp, while the Model Y Long Range has a 75 kWh battery pack and base power is 425 hp, but the Polestar has an EPA rating of 250 miles (220/230 real world), so the Tesla is way more efficient. I'll write up a comparison soon
Looking good. Congrats! Nothing beats a black car when you can handle it. What type of material is the seat? Looks like vinyl? Have fun and enjoy in good health. Looks like you can take it to the snow north you no issue.
The lighting was bad in that pic, in person it actually looks and feels like real leather. My wife, who loves leather thought it was real, and didn't believe me when I told her it was Vegan leather
Learned another new thing about tesla. So no Tesla has real leather? It makes even more sense why tesla sell more in Cali. Some of these faux leathers are pretty dawn good. BMW's latest version feels very soft and nice too. Not sure about durability.
Since receiving my Y, I've been able to play around with it and drive it, so a mini review is in order:
Build and Paint quality:
Build and paint quality are very good. Materials used are premium, and so far the only two issues I've found are a slight misalignment of one of the rear lights (which is barely perceptible) and a slight rattle coming from the passenger side front seat, which could be the seatbelt. All the weather seals are good, glass lines up, and body panels are all good.
Interior layout/Comfort:
The cabin is nice and roomy, seats are very comfortable with plenty of legroom in both the back and front. The vegan leather is very soft, and it's hard to tell the material from real leather. Both front and rear seats are heated, and front seats are bolstered very well. The steering wheel feels really nice and can be changed into different positions, and has 3 modes: Comfort, Normal, and Sports. The glass roof is a nice touch, hopefully it doesn't get too hot in the summer. The dash layout is very clean and simple, and any driving information you need is in the large infotainment screen. Everything in the cabin is very thoughtfully laid out...from the sun visors that use magnets to hold them in place (magnets last, clips don't) to the cupholders and vast amounts of storage space:
Trunk Space:
The rear cargo area is very spacious, great for several bags and suitcases as well as groceries, Costco runs, etc. The front Frunk can fit a small duffle bag or backpack.
Heating/Cooling:
The HVAC system works quickly to cool the cabin, with hidden vents in the dash and vents for the back seating area. Heating is the same, Tesla utilizes a heat pump that efficiently warms the cabin and defrosts the windows. Set the system to Automatic, and you never have to touch it again.
Tech:
This is one of the areas Tesla shines. The software that runs Tesla's vehicles is just truly intuitive and amazing. I've used various infotainment systems in different manufacturers vehicles, and none are as responsive or well thought out. Some people complain about lack of Android Auto and CarPlay, but unless you are dead set on using Waze or Apple Maps, I personally see no reason for any of those features. The infotainment system has everything built into it, and if you want to stream from your phone there is Bluetooth. Constant OTA updates make this vehicle better and better.
The Tesla App is just amazing. It not only allows you to use your phone as a key, but it gives you complete control over the car. You can control everything from the HVAC, lock and unlock, open windows, the trunk/frunk and track your car
Driving tech:
With 8 cameras, there is not much this car doesn't see. When you use the turn signal, it will display the blind spot in the screen. It also maps virtual objects around you, from cars to cones. If you or an object gets to close, it will draw a line and estimate the distance. The backup Camera displays in HD, and it's the clearest I've ever seen. I haven't had a chance yet to test out Autopilot, so I can't comment yet on it. Things like signal auto cancel seem to work really well.
Driving dynamics:
With dual motors, 425 hp/475 ft-lbs torque, this thing is fast. But it's also extremely smooth. Steering is very compliant, and the suspension handles rough roads very well. It's not too stiff, but it's also not too soft. Tesla has done a great job isolating a lot of road noise from reaching the cabin. I'm totally impressed by throttle mapping. If you are really one of those that likes to take it easy, you can put it in "Chill Mode" which makes the car chill . The brakes are excellent, and stop this super heavy vehicle instantly.
How does it compare to my Polestar? As much as I love that car, the Y is a way better car in every way. It's tech is way behind Tesla, it's nowhere as efficient, and it's software development is hit or miss. But to be fair, the Polestar 2 doesn't compete with the Model Y, it being a sports Fastback. After it's lease is over in 2025 I'm probably going to replace it with a Model 3P

I find the wireless chargers angled well for running Waze while driving. Bit too far to report anything while moving, but plenty visible for quick checks for alerts
You bought well. And I am still jealous. Did you try the "blow me" voice command? "My butt is hot" or "passengers butt is hot" '1/2/3 bacon strips" There's more, and more, and more...

No not yet! My daughter BTW found the fart maker. You would think she was two, not twenty two
great write up. sounds like you have zero negatives with it, which is great.

sounds like the polestar will sit gathering dust for 2 years?
