Question hanjras 2nd gen GS300 build :)

Hey guys, i am so new to posting on threads and forums its not even funny, so go easy on me
firstly, i have questions to ask about building my car for more power, and hopefully have a thread of my progress. Am i even in the right place to be posting this?? HAHAHAHA
i thought i would just make a new thread just so the information is in the same place. let me know if this isn't the right place to post this tho lmao

Secondly,
i have a 1998 Lexus GS300 with a 2JZ-GE VVTI, and a A650E transmission. Its running strong still, bought it a month ago for dirt cheap, had a problem with the APPS which is common which i fixed for free. btw, if you have a problem with your lexus gs300 going into limp mode, showing VSC and engine lights, firstly scan the car, if its the accelerator pedal position sensor, just take it apart (it's on the mechanical side of the throttle body and just resolder the electrical points), and your problem should be fixed

ANYWAY

I want more power, around the 500 horsepower mark can anyone help out? I'm not totally clueless as to modifying cars and how it all works, but i do have my moments, so bear with me I pretty much want to know just where to start, and how to go about this. Is it worth building a 2j with VVTI? or should i be looking for a 2JZ GTE to buy? Should i upgrade the tranny first (if its worth building my engine since it can't really handle boost or power past 350 horsepower? Or should i upgrade ECU? What if install a GTE ecu? Will it even be compatible with a NA 2Jay? What are the steps to do this type of thing?

This build is gonna be spread out a lot in the future, as money is a factor that i need to consider lmao, being only 18 and fresh out of high school
I'm also in aus, nsw, sydney if any of y'all are from here

Thanks guys, let me know if i've done something wrong lol

Man I'm gonna be honest with you, you're most likely gonna get roasted on here just because people are more bitter now for some weird reason. But a positive message from me will hopefully keep you around.

I would search 2jzgte swap, 1jzgte swap, na build, bolt-on power, etc to get you started and going through different past threads. That way you get familiar with some different looks and installs.

This forum isn't like it used to be. Different breed on here now but you can PM a OG like me if you need some guidance

I was swappin a 1j into my sc400. Decided to change routes to a 98 GS300. I havent started yet however i have the FMIC and it fits great (CX racing fmic). I have the 1j and from pictures..it seems easy enough. Vvti and non vvti can both be power houses. Tuning shouldnt be an issue regardless which one you have..anyone who says diff doesnt know. However i am going stand alone (emu black) when it comes time. Research research research evvvvveerrryyyrthing!

Watch Hert's build series and do everything he did, plus or minus the extra flashy bits. You could probably do your whole build start to finish based on this alone.

500ish HP turbo 2JZs are probably one of the most well documented setups on the Internet and it's never been easier to get good parts.

Whether you like it or not, you're going to have to read a lot. TrueGS300 here has probably the most recent NA-T build thread and it's very comprehensive. There are also a ****-load of GTE swap builds here. Please don't make people copy-paste everything for you. I guarantee it's all here already. The forum search engine is pretty crappy, so you may have better results using Google and limiting results to ClubLexus.com.
